Celebrity fit club

I don't know if any of you guys have watched this. I have, and I thought it was going to be kind of sleazy, like the surreal life, or something, but I actually liked it.
A new season is going to start up sometime this summer, and I did read about the new cast.
I don't remember everyone, but I know Carnie Wilson is supposed to be on.
In case you don't know, Carnie was/is part of the trio, Wilson Phillips. I don't think they really have anything current out, but were big a number of years ago. ( early 90's, late 80')s????
She was 'the fat one'. She had gastric byp**** lost a lot of weight, and I think even posed for Playboy. Along the way, she got married, and had a baby. She deals with the same weight issues she dealt with before. I don't think she has ever gotten anywhere near as overweight as she was to start, but she does still struggle with her weight.
I think it's great that they are having her on. It just proves that this operation is not a cure all. It's not magic. Too many think it is. And, people are so tough to judge. My cousin had it done, and had lots of complications ( she's a nurse, so she knew what she was getting into) . She has lost a lot, but as is always pointed out by EVERYONE it seems, she is still heavy. People expect, once you have this done, you will be a 'skinny minny'. I'm sure my cousin is glad she had it done, because while she still might be considered overweight, it's no longer out of control. But to me, there's no way I'd want to risk so much, and then to be constantly 'measured up' by everyone. Funny how everyone thinks it's their business when it comes to someone dieting or whatever. Everyone thinks it's ok, and their right to comment.
I'm not completely anti - operation here. But I do think it's over-done, and too many people have misconceptions about it. "oh, if I could just get this operation, then all my problems would be solved'. Not true.
Anyway, check out VH1, or I will, and find out when it starts. It might be a good filler, till 'Loser' starts!

I've watched Celebrity Fit Club. I think this may be the 3rd or 4th season. I like it alot. It was so hard last season to see how much Countess Vaughn struggled. She had huge self esteem issues but so did Victoria Jackson from another season. I am looking forward to it again. I know several people that have had the surgery. My sister in-law is one and she lost all of her weight and looks terrific. She has since had a baby and it looks like if she lost 15-20 pounds, which I know she will, she will be back to her pre-baby weight. My boyfriend's sister was scheduled to have surgery this past Thursday. I truly do not believe in messing with what God gave you. It's too scary for me. I would rather struggle for the rest of my life then have the surgery.

I have "cheap cable" so I dont get to watch the show. I hear a lot of great people that have been on it...Jani Lane, Steven Tyler's other daughter, Willie Aames, Carnie Wilson etc. I think it is great that they are trying to get their weight under control.

Like many; I was (and still am) a fan of Wilson Phillips. I was shocked to see Carnie at her goal weight. Yes she chose a risky surgery; but you have to do what it right for you. She has also continued to educate others in the area of Morbid Obesity. She has a book; and has backed many a "Non showbiz person" before, during and after their surgery. They showed some of their interviews on Entertainment Tonight. It is good to know that this surgery isnt the end of the obesity battle for most. I am thinking that most of the weight she regained was from pregnancy. I appreciate that this time she is going to do it "the right way." That way people can now see that she is able to go both routes and be successful...both surgical and non-surgical.

However; in this day and age of cutting first and dieting later...I choose to look to another diet inspiration. Why does everyone think Oprah is such a diet goddess? Forget that...what about Ricki Lake? She was morbidly obese and could only score "fat girl" roles. Then in a decent amount of time; she lost half of herself. She was then able to have her own very successful talk show, get married, have children, survive a divorce, has a new man in her life; and guess what? She still looks great! Not everyone in showbiz feels the need to take a shortcut. Kirstie Alley is most likely putting sales for Jenny Craig through the roof with the results she has gotten. She has also opted for a healthier lifestyle and sweats it out in her own gym (we should all be so lucky). There is no substitute for hard work, diet, and persistance. Those that have to sweat, go to bed hungry on occasion, keep a food journal, and have a strong wall of support to back them are the ones that will keep it off long term. There has been speculation that Al Roker has regained some pounds as well...but that could be the camera. What about Randy 'Dawg' Jackson? Your body will be healthier if you accept the burden of fat burning for yourself and not leaving it to a knife. I'd rather have the bragging rights. As usual I could go on...

Here ya go...all the 411
Carnie Wilson (Wilson-Phillips)
Angie Stone (R&B singer)
Tina Yothers (Family Ties)
Erika Eleniak (Baywatch)
Vinnie Pastore (The Sopranos)
Bonecrusher (rapper)
Ted Lange (Love Boat)
Nick Turturro (NYPD Blue)

The 4th installment of the show will premiere in August.

This was all I could find. They have pictures, and more stuff on theVH1 website. But I couldn't find a definate start date.
I was hoping it would start this month, but I guess not.
I checked out their message board. I tell you, there are people who watch these shows for a completely different reason than we do! One of the questions was about Carnie. "Didn't she already have surgery on the internet? Why doesn't she just do that again?" Some other posters kind of straightened this one out, but that just proves that most people really don't get what the gastric bypass surgery is really about.
And, others I think were mostly interested in seeing who would have a meltdown. I guess you will get this with a celebrity show. None of these celebs are in the prime of their careers, and I think some people enjoy seeing them while they're 'down'. Seems kind of cruel, but the show is really basic, and very real. No drugs, no surgery, no gimmicky anything. Hard work, diet, and they also have a psychologist to talk to them.
I don't know who all these people even are, and to be honest I don't really care. They're only human, and struggle with the same things we do. And I applaud them for wanting to do it the right way, not the 'hollywood' way. Maybe some are just doing it for exposure. but the bottom line is if they put in the work, and follow the diet, they will get results, and the ones who ( like me) tend to come up with excuses, and tend to eat what they shouldn't, aren't going to. It also shows what an emotional battle it is.

It shows that even with all that help: psychologist, doctor, and trainer that they have all of the same issues we do. But...I think they have added pressure because they are in the spotlight. We're not on tv or on a stage somewhere in front of millions of people. I know they are probably told everyday you are too fat for this or too fat for that. It is always in their face. I like the show alot but each season there is always a meltdown, someone abusing drugs, and someone that does not want to lose too much weight. I guess the reason I identified with Countess the most is because she's 4'11 like I am. She weighed 130 and they wanted her to lose 20 pounds to get to 110. Whew!!! I've got a longer way to go than her but I will get there.

To be honest I am not a big Oprah fan but I do admire her for publicizing her battle with her weight and what she has done. I admire Ricki Lake also. I think Randy Jackson has definitely put back on some of his weight. I don't know about Al Roker. I do think a lot of people think the gastric bypass surgery is the end all. It's not because if you tend to continue to eat even when you are full then that surgery is a waste of time for you. You will stretch your stomach back out and you will be back where you started. So even though I know my insurance would cover the surgery because I would definitely be considered morbidly obese due to my height, weight, bmi no thank you because I know myself well enough.

I saw a show today -- 'Celebrity Fit Club-- where are they now?". It was interesting. Some have gained some weight back. Some have continued losing, and some have pretty much stated where they were at the end of their show. But they all said that the show changed their lives. And I think they are all glad they did it. Except for Victoria Jackson. She's hard to figure, because she is a comedian. She had some pretty serious issues with her father, and I don't think they were ever really resolved. Her dad basically brushed her off, saying 'oh, you misunderstood'. But she also made a comment that she did the show to help jumpstart her career ( why I'm sure a lot do it) and that she didn't get any jobs resulting from it. So, I'm not really sure if she was glad she did it, or not. She's heavier now than she was when the show ended.
The new season starts August 6th. I'm excited!

i like celebrity fit club. it's kinda cool seeing all those people who used to be so skinny are now bigger and working at it. especially the one from wierd science (kelly lebrock?) and the black guy who used to sing. i love how he admitted to how in order to keep his 6pak as a singer he was doing it the wrong way and now he was doing it the right way.

they're pretty inspirational. i'm liking pretty much anything though that will give me a push to keep on going.

as for the gastric bipasses? i used to be a huge supporter of them.. and now not so much. i have had, i think, 4 friends have it done. had a few conversations with them about it and experienced their pain with all the side effects it causes.

mostly how i feel about it now is that it is the cure for some people. but not all people. from what i'm learning from my friends is that knowing what they know now and how they feel about themselves, they could have lost the weight naturally by exersize and diet. however at that time they were all in such a deep depression they saw no answer. that was their answer.

some claim it's not the easy way out. but from my gf who lost most of her weight with her gastric, exersize and diet she claims it is. i tend to agree with her, but add on "it's the easy way out with horrid side effects". as described by her, "i didn't have to work to get skinny for the most part. i didn't exersize, i didn't work on my mental state. it just happened. a week of pain from surgery, the puking and learning how to eat again.. yea. but think about it. . . i didn't battle anything. i lost 80 lbs in mere months. i didn't improve myself any. i didn't work on me or gain anything by struggling."

i dunno... it's a tough call.. but for the most part, i'm finding myself not to be for gastrics anymore. especially watching that peter guy on oprah. he was 763 lbs. he lost 500!!!! by walking 4 miles a day and going down to a 2200 calorie diet. he didn't take pills, he didn't have a gastric. the only surgery he had was to remove his skin (8 lbs) that was all loose after losing all that weight. (if you want to see pictures i have them saved) so, if he can do it.. why can't some other people?

I'm not an expert on this procedure by any means. The thing about the surgery is that, for awhile anyway, it forces you to limit what you eat.
It that would be the end of it, I think I would be more supportive of it, but since it appears that you can gradually eat more and more, and gain back the weight, then I have to question the benefits.
I think it's probably the best option for some people. But I don't think anyone should do it because they think it's easy, because then they won't have to diet and exercise. I will work for those who do learn new eating habits, and stick with them.
I'm just glad that Carnie will be on the show, and that the word is getting out that this isn't a 'cure all'. It's a tool to help you lose weight, but it's not magic. You lose, because you eat less. And if you don't adopt new habits, then yes, you can eventually gain all that weight back.
