whine
This is kinda dumb, but I was feeling a bit sorry for myself, and thought this might help me snap out of it:
I just watch "Bewitched" with Nicole Kidman. A rather unimpressive, but mildly enjoyable movie. How is it fair that someone be built like her, when others are built like me? How can a woman be so tall and lean, and yet still have curves? why does this same woman have seemingly flawless skin, gorgeous hair, and unbelievable talent? Guys, I'm really not a big Nicole Kidman fan, but her, and others like her, just seem unreal! These stars who are sooo gorgeous. Everything seems so perfect. Everything about their looks, plus they have talent too. And then there are the people who aren't famous. The ones who never have to worry about what they eat. The ones who roll out of bed looking great, or the ones who shake their heads after getting out of the shower, and are good to go. It just seems like some people have it so easy.
I'm tired of all the effort I put in, with such 'blah' results. I tell you, I feel so downright ugly sometimes. And I'm not. I mean enough people have told me I'm pretty, that I shouldn't feel this way. But I'm one of those who hates to be in a picture. I'm always -- ALWAYS-- making a weird face. I hate the way I look when I smile. It's so dumb, and so shallow of me. AACCKK -- I sound like me Mom. I always thought my mom was pretty, but she always hated the way she looked. I guess her attitude has rubbed off, because I look a great deal like her. I hate when I get like this too. In my head, I know I'm not ugly. I get enough positive comments and compliments to know that people don't look at me, and go 'ewww". I know I'm not a raving beauty either -- fine with me, but I don' t know why I get so down on myself sometimes.
And now, I'm feeling this way, and I know it's stupid. It's stupid because although I'm not a perfect physical specimen, everything that's really important works just fine. I can walk , see, hear, talk, think..... So now I'm feeling bad, about feeling bad about myself. Just a big fat pity party for me!
So yeah, now that I've expressed these feelings, and see them in front of me, it's even more clear how ridiculous they are. TOM started today --can I just blame that?

ya know..I actually saw an interview with Nicole Kidman once where she said she hated the way she looks. She said she wished she had a figure like J-Lo and had more curves because she felt like a little boy.
I think all women hate some aspect of their bodies.

Yeah, that's so true. And so silly! Who can we blame? The media? I think it's so hard for us to see ourselves as others see us. And as far as stars go, a lot of that is fake, or illusions anyway. I know, magazines are airbrushed. I know that hair extensions are the rule, rather than the exception. I have heard that the stars aren't that crazy about HDTV, because it is so clear, you can see everything -- every blemish, every pore.
I'm feeling much better today. I don't know what was the matter with me last night. Sorry for such a ridiculous post!

Gotta agree with Missy on the idea that all women have something about themselves that they hate. Some just have more than others. If everyone loved everything, then there would be no need for plastic surgery or anything that would alter one's appearance. Even girdles and push up bras would be scrapped. I think self esteem should be about how you feel about yourself; and not how everyone else is telling you how they feel about you....causing you to feel one way or another. If a huge chunk of the population would quit telling Miss Priss Hilton that she was so HOT and feeding her already overblown ego, then I bet she would be forever out of the spotlight. (Her new song, bthw is horrid.) What about naturally beautiful women who are overlooked and underrated by the media like Kate Winslet or Sandra Bullock? I dont think either has been under the knife. That is huge these days since plastic surgery runs are getting more and more frequent. They are given as graduation presents to high schoolers!! One girl lost 40 pounds from lypo for her prom! Look at other people who have taken it to the extreme..Cher and Michael Jackson (both used to look awesome in their heyday). Now they dont look anything like they used to. But I guess that was the point. Want "normal people?" Dr Phil has had plastic surgery addicts on his show. So it isnt just a hollywood obsession. For pete's sake...they are already saying Taylor Hicks needs to lose weight to be more successful. I like the idea somebody had about doing a "Radio Idol." Looks play too big a role in everything. Even I am trying to slim down and have some work done in order to become more markeable. Where does it end????

Gahh!! Can't believe Paris Hilton has a video. My son (13) asked the other day "How come when you're famous for one thing, you think you can do something else?" He was referring to Paris, and why she ( or anyone) thinks she can sing. Just becaue you're a model doesn't mean you can be an actress. Now, I don't really know what Paris is, or really what she's famous for, other than being herself, but I mean, she's had a tv show, been in a movie, modeled, and now things she should be a singer! Please someone tell this girl to GO AWAY!!!
