WARNING: before you follow the link to this story please be aware there is a very graphic photo of this extremely obese guy which you may find upsetting.http://reuters.myway.com/article/200...BESITY-DC.html

Personally I pity this guy and its great to see he is going to get help.

I have just seen the man on the link!! i cannot believe he didnt get any help sooner!!
it is great to see he is going to get help but i really hope it is not to late!! i always get upset when i see people like that.
I think being addicted to food is the worst addiction out of them all, infact any eating disorder for that matter!! we have to eat food to live!! but people who smoke dont have to smoke to live!! does that make sense?

I read that article yesterday too. Very sad that that mans life literally has been atrophing away and he's eaten himself into that state. His goal weight is most of our starting weight. Just goes to show how relative everything is. I am glad to know that I have options other than surgery. That poor man; no matter how he got that way it's a sad state to be in.

Oh my God. As cruel as this may sound, I can't believe the guy is still alive. I can just imagine all the health problems he has to endure. I feel very sorry for him, but I am also very glad he is seeking help about this.

I saw this last night on FOX News after "Idol." I cant even begin to imagine what physical and emotional agony this guy must be in. The surgeons have offered to perform the surgery for free. Any kind of surgery is risky (especially with that much added weight). I am sure that this man knows the risks. Weightwise he is a ticking time bomb. But doctors are baffled because his blood sugar etc is normal. No clue how this is possible. He is only 40 years old; but the added weight and lack of physical activity must have him at over 80. Maybe a story like this will save somebody else's life; as well as this young man's. Too bad the majority of the publicity this man receives will be from cruel jokes from late night tv shows.

Did anyone happen to tune into Law & Order SVU on Tuesday night? Teen Obesity was a major part of the plotline. Makes me wonder how many violent attacks occur each year due to obesity intolerance? In my book; 1 instance is 1 too many.

I had to wade through pages and pages of spam to find this thread; but it was worth it. I came across an update!!
