What I Like About Me
Hi everyone!
I have decided to jump on the positive thinking bandwagon, and I am going to take all of you with me. We should focus on what we like about ourselves (if we arent already doing it), and not on the things we dont. So I want everyone to list 5 things (or more) that they like about themselves.
1) My big heart (I want to help everyone out there with a weight issue)
2) My Cheshire cat grin (yes I can smile)
3) My determination to "cut the fat"
4) My loss of 55 pounds and oodles of body fat
5) My willingness to tackle any challenge that comes my way
6) How "hot" I look when I am all dressed up and my hair is straight
7) My ability to refuse to accept defeat
8) I can say no to old "trigger" foods, and I dont solve problems with food anymore
9) I walked 12 miles straight for no reason but just to say that I did it
10) I had the courage to change my lifestyle and it saved my life in more ways than one

1. My beautiful blue/green eyes
2. My dainty facial features (lips, nose, ears)
3. My smooth soft skin
4. The way I feel when I wear thong underwear
5. My breasts..they are too big for nice bras, but they are still a compliment piece
6. The fact that I lost 31 pounds
7. The fact that I am loyal to everyone, until they hurt me
8. The way I can laugh at things, even when times are rough
9. I like the warm and fuzzy feeling of knowing I am loved
10. I am a perfectionist and things need to be done just so.

I think it says something, that so few have replied to this. It's tough! I don't think I could come up with 5, let alone 10 things I like about myself. I'm trying though. It's just easier for me to focus on the things I want to change!
This is a great thread though. It's making me try to think of myself in a more positive light.

That's where I'm at on this also. It's so hard for me to look at myself in a positive manner instead of focusing on the things that I don't like about me.
I'm still thinking on it.

I was beginning to wonder why people were hesitant to answer this post. The same with the "Everest" one as well. Come on guys, there has got to be at least one thing you like about yourselves. I think we need to boost the positive thinking on this board. It doesnt have to be anything substantial...just a positive thought. EX: "I like how I feel when I laugh." Or "I like how my hair looked today." The more you force yourself to look at the real you (and like what you see), the more you will want to keep looking. Honestly, I didnt want to look at myself for a really long time. Between us, I still cant watch myself in the mirror at the gym without looking away all embarrassed. It wont be easy at first; all you will see is what you dont like and want to change. That is normal. But make yourself look closer. You may be surprised at what you see. Dont you think that you are worth a second look? If even you dont think you are worth it, why should anyone else? I know there is a real person inside of all of you out there....have the gutts to let that person out into the world so the rest of us can enjoy him/her. You wont regret it.

I totally agree with you Carrie! I have learned that my husband couldn't love me completely b/c I didn't love myself. I love myself more than ever now and his love for me is complete. I have learned to love the little things about me - kindness may seem little to me but my kindness may have gotten someone else through their day. We have to remember to love ourselves first - I am a better mom, wife, friend, daughter, sister now b/c my love is seen through my eyes and the way I care for myself now. I used to be on the backburner but NO MORE! I have to care for myself so that I can be that better person. It works! Trust me!

Be your own cheerleader!
I just read this in a magazine -
Be Your Own Cheerleader! We often compliment others - why not ourselves? Keep a notepad on your nightstand to write one wonderful thing about yourself each day. Soon you'll see how great you really are!
Figured this was perfect for this thread!

Excellent idea Patty Ann!
I think everyone could benefit from positive thinking. I know I tend to be my own worst critic at times, and I am not alone. I think our bodies tend to respond better to positive feedback, not the negative junk we sling at it when things arent going how we envisioned them to be.

I had noticed a big change in me when I started school - 2 years ago...I realized that I could do something - I could prove to myself and others that I am a smart person...I can be teased about being ditzy - I've never been told that I was stupid but sometimes people have wondered. lol
Telling myself that I could do it b/c I knew that I was a smart person boosted my self esteem and I have excelled in school.
