Fast Food???

When you are out and about and don't have the time to go home and make a healthy meal...try choosing better options of fast food places.

I think Subway is one of the better choices in my opinion. They have tons of healthy choices there..I usually get the turkey breast sub...they also have tuna and some chicken subs which are better for you.

Just be sure to limit the cheese, and don't put any condiments on the sub, unless it's mustard....mustard has no fat! For drinks, they have water, milk and juices. Subway now also offers salads and soups.

I also found a few links you might want to check out when you have some time regarding fast food.

You are right about Subway Missy. Most of their lean 6" subs are only 5 Weight Watcher Points! Thanks for the info.

I love subway. I put on the sweet onion sauce and I believe that is one point and I have to have my cheese so they are about 8 pts for me. But that is nothing for eating out. And I am full and satified. I also get grilled chicken anywhere else with no mayo. They are 6pts on weight watchers.

Thanks for the tips, and it is good to know if you ever have to eat out at fast food -but I just can't do it personally. Fast-food places aren't known for the quality of their food, so if I'm getting things plain without sauces or cheese or gravy, I can taste the food -ew!

I would so much rather take the time to prep my own fresh salad/meal at home and know exactly what's in it and make it taste good than order a plain yucky fast food iceburg lettuce salad. I do like Subway okay, but I just skip the other places. I also don't usually feel like paying 5.00 for a small bowl of lettuce or a plain dry chicken breast when $5 buys a whole pack of chicken to cook at home.

My lunches have become a lot of soup these days -many soups are 90-110 cal per serving, so a whole can of soup is ~200 cal. It's easy and quicker than going out for fast food, not to mention cheaper.

Sorry to be a downer on this subject, but right now it's just not a good idea for me to go to the fast food places and know that I can only order a salad there when I know I usually get something covered in cheese and bacon and sauce. I will just end up resenting my diet and questioning if it's worth it. Maybe someday, but for now -no.

FYI, I can't remember who was asking, but about Subways breads...
Turns out their white bread is actually 10 cal less per serving than their wheat. So whoever it was that ordered white -good choice actually!
Ordered from lowest cal to highest cals:
White: 190 cal
Wheat: 200 cal
Sourdough/Parmesan Oregano/ Italian: 210 cal
Roasted Garlic: 230 cal
Monterrey Cheese/ Italian Herb and Cheese: 240 cal
Honey Oat: 250 cal

Just thought you'd find that as interesting as I did. There's not really that much range in calories between them, but white is actually a good choice there. Enjoy folks!

Thanks for posting that! I knew there wasn't much a difference in the breads..and I can't think of who I was telling that to now..yikes!

I remember I found it weird at first cuz I always thought the wheat was better...but I love my white sub bread!

Wow, I didn't know their honey oat was that much. I know there is not much of a difference, but I always thought I would do better to get honey oat than the Monterrey Cheese Bread.

I'm the one who asked about the white bread. Well, I didn't really ask, just said that I always get it, but should probably get wheat. I'm glad to know that white is even a better choice! I suppose it would be different if it was whole wheat bread, but I don't think it is.
So , now can you tell me that their cookies are only 50 calories and 0 grams of fat?? Please??? Pretty please????????

Mmmmmm...Those have to be my favorite cookies (especially the white macadamia) and not only that you can get three for a dollar. If only they were 50 calories dieting would be a beautiful thing.
