Today is my sons birthday lunch at school. I have to bring him mcdonalds and we sit and eat lunch and have birthday cake.

I am happy about being there with him, but having to site there and watch everyone eat cake is hard. I will bring a fruit salad for me, and maybe just a bite of cake, I wouldn't want to make him feel bad.

exactly as long as its in proportion thats the main thing and dont let it harm relationship with family or friends.

We had a great time at the birthday lunch. I love doing those special things that make such great memories. He was very surprised that I also brought along his little brother. He was so proud showing him off to everyone. He was suprised that I brought him Mcdonalds too, I didn't tell him I was doing that, he thought he was eating the lunch I packed him in his lunch box. As for the cake I ate it, and it was delecious! We had a great time. This weekend he is having two more parties, well everything in moderation of course. LOL First we are off to my families house on Saturday then to my inlaws house on Sunday. They don't live near eachother that is why we are not having one big party. And I will have a piece of cake at each party just not the gigantic one I used to have! LOL

Oh bless him, really glad to hear that you had a lovely time with your son and his little brother - I can't wait to be a Mum so that I can experience these family events myself

I'm with you on that one Fiona, I cannot wait to have a family of my own. As for cakes though, I deal with cakes daily. It's my job. Tammy, for serving size if that's what you're worried about...it's 1"x1". It's basicly just a tiny peice. Another way you can cut calories, and keep the flavor is by using bettercreme instead of buttercreme (Bakery frosting). Bettercreme tastes like cool-whip, and since it's not made from shortening/butter...it's a tad healthier.
I can also give you some recipes for healthier frostings if that is what you're looking for as another option. I know having a family, it'll be next to impossible not making cakes, or having cake with them. Just let me know if you'd like those.
