Just needing to vent. My bestfriend is scheduled to have WLS next month and I an so afraid for her. It has really started to put a strain on our friendship. I do not feel I can support her in this adventure and I do not know what to do. I just wish I could make her understand why I so against the surgery. I know in the end it is her decision, but I am so afraid of losing her to the surgery or complications.

I am with ya. I can distinctly remember asking my Doctor about the chances of me getting this surgery, that was before Christmas. She told me that I had lost a good chunk of weight, to keep doing what I am doing and see what happened. Now I am down from 216 to 180! And I am so proud because I did it all myself. The only lifelong change I will have is how much healthier and fit I will be instead of having digestive problems for life. I am so glad I didn't pursue it and I hope you can talk your friend out of it!

I've known people that have had this and had no complications or very few. Personally I would be afraid to do it but if I guess if my healthy was really bad and it was a last resort I would think about it.

I wish your friend the best...If she does the surgery I hope that all goes well. I hope that you can be there for her, as she may need you. I understand that you do not want to lose her but you should really try to be there for her now. She needs you!
