Thumbs up Cinnamon Roll Monster hits again!

Ok, for those of you who aren't familiar with the story, we have a "cinnamon roll monster" that likes to hit our house in the middle of the night. She's been knows to down 4 cinnamon rolls in one night, leaving only 1/2 of one per child come morning. Needless to say, when the kids woke up they 'd quite often. Well I felt her prowling around once more this evening!!! Those cinnamon rolls just kept calling her name. "weaverdelooh, weaverdelooh..." Oh they looked soooo good!!! Thinking one wouldn't hurt very much I decided to take a peak at the back of the package. That's when I realized there were 246 calories PER cinnamon roll!!!!! Ahhhkkk!!!! That cinnamon roll monster was downing 1000 calories in one sitting before!!!! (plus a glass of 100% whole milk) Well, not wanting to be or with myself in the morning I decided to chase the cinnamon roll monster away! Instead, I recalled having "cinnamon roll" instant oatmeal available and decided to take a peak at the back of that package. Sure enough 160 calories per serving, and I KNOW it was SOOOO much healthier than the real thing. I don't know that my taste buds enjoyed it quite as much, but I've eaten one serving and I'm content enough to stop. However, I tend to think had that cinnamon roll monster gotten loose there would have been no stopping until after 1000 calories were already downed! So I say yeah for me!!!!! 160 calories v. 1000 +?

Now, let's hope that the cinnamon roll monster decides to be nice and share with the kiddos in the a.m.. Hopefully she'll even share the two extra so as not to leave any behind tempting me!!!!

giggles, laughs, having fun with this one!

Good job!! Show that cinnamon roll monster who is boss!!!!

Do your kids absolutely have to have cinnamon rolls?? Would they eat the cinnamon roll oatmeal instead? Maybe if you stopped buying them then you wouldn't have to worry about that mean ole' monster coming back!! I know it's hard to deprive the kids of things that they enjoy. I do buy my kids Honey Buns and I am able to say no to them even though they smell so sweet and yummy.

Cinnimon Rolls

Quaker makes a cinnimon toast multigrain cake that is 50 calories. It is not bad and can satisfy that craving. In the store it is next to the rice cakes.

I can't relate to cinnamon rolls, but, I have always been a sucker for french toast with brown sugar and butter. More or less, a heart attack waiting to happen when you add in the bacon, and the fried eggs.
Since I am not allow to have anything like that anymore, I resorted to Maple and Brown Sugar oatmeal. One package leaves me feeling very full, and, of course, guilt free.
I have to give you a lot of credit though...you managed to do what a lot of people couldn't. You wanted those cinnamon rolls, and actually took the time to read what you were putting into your body. In turn, you made the right choice. That must have been so hard. Kudos to you!!!

No the kids don't have to have the cinnamon rolls. It's just something that I started doing recently. Well actually the way things used to work was like this. I would buy the whole package of cinnamon rolls for myself, and eat ALL six in two days! Leaving NONE for the kids. I just recently started sharing "mommy's snack" with the kids. So, instead of completely not buying the cinnamon rolls, I've decided I CAN say NO, and the kids can have a treat that they haven't had for so long because of "the cinnamon roll monster". I know it won't last long, as I'm not one normally to spend a lot of money on stuff that has little results in filling one up.

Good job staring down the evil beast and emerging victorious! It is amazing what we used to allow ourselves to think of as a reasonable snack or dinner. Now that we count calories, we can't imagine using up that many calories in a sitting much less a day. I used to think a plate of french fries with cheese melted on top and jalapenos were reasonable. I would hate to think of how many calories were in that- eek !

Oh I totally agree about the looking at something and thinking that is SO not worth that many of my calories...like 1 cookie... please not worth 200 calories.. heck 3 cookies is not worth that to me...lol I am all about finding the things that I can eat a larger amount for a smaller amount of calories...
