Question Thanksgiving Dinner Question

I posted this in my journal and I started thinking I wouldn't mind seeing if any of you have done this or have any ideas about this.
This Saturday night is our "spring training" for Thanksgiving. A Thanksgiving trial run... a tradition hubby's mom used to do so we carry that on.
This year I am trying something I read in a magazine. They say to make your stuffing, potatoes, veggie ahead of time and then after the turkey is out of the oven they go in to warm up. I am making the stuffing and potatoes tonight and putting them in the fridge. And then Saturday after we cook the turkey breast we will put the potatoes and stuffing in the oven and see how they re-heat. Anyone ever try anything like that?? Any thoughts... suggestions ?

My former in-laws used to do a potluck Thanksgiving, so some of the dishes such as mashed potatoes were made ahead of time and then reheated in the oven after the turkey was done. It always worked out fine. Some dishes actually taste better when they've had more time for flavors to blend. My sister-in-law used to make an awesome whipped sweet potato casserole with some sort of liqueur in it that was even better when it was reheated.

We're having a pre-Thanksgiving turkey dinner this weekend, too! Turkeys were 59 cents a pound at the store where my hubby works, so he brought one home. I'm going to experiment with some things, too. I'm thinking of making a cranberry chutney with a lot less sugar than the usual cranbery sauce. I'm also looking forward to trying some great low-fat recipes with the leftover turkey!

Thanks for your thoughts Sue.
I made the stuffing and mashed potatoes last night for our practice thanksgiving. I use a Weight Watchers recipe for stuffing and I make my mashed potatoes with low sodium chicken broth instead of milk or sour cream.
I am looking forward to seeing how this works out... I agree that some thing do taste better if they have time to sit. I love lasagne the 2nd day

I am hoping this works out wonderfully cause that will make Thanksgiving virtually stressfree and will help get everything on the table together warm
