I am a personal fan of the OLDIES while working out - it is always upbeat and I love the oldies. It keeps me in a good mood! It is tough working out to country, which I love, b/c it can be too slow.

My definitely all fav - OLDIES!

Upbeat works for me

Upbeat is better for me - but honestly when I am inside on the exercise bike the thing that works best for me is watching tv... it helps me push myself when I start getting tired... "ok go til the next commercial" then "now just go to the end of the commercial" then "only 5 minutes left of the show go til then" It seems to work for me

I once heard someone says that it is best to work out to "mad" music. Music that has more power behind it will cause you to work out with more intensity.

When you say "mad" music - what do you mean? If it were my type of "mad" music then it would be hard rock - this is what I listen to if I become really angry.

Technopop is GREAT for walking or jogging - very upbeat, doesn't get you focused on words or the music itself, but keeps you moving.

I just invested in an iPod and plan on loading it up and hitting the beach.

Goin' for it!

Probably some heavy rock, but there is also a lot of music that is just very powerful or has a lot of drums that gets your blood pumping and your body moving. Kind of like "We will, we will rock you" lol!

Have fun on the beach -I know that I would enjoy it. I live in MO so I do not have that luxury. I am looking into buying something so that I can listen as I go for my walks...well, when I'm not with my daughter.

I find that songs with specific beats work best for me. It's not as much the lyrics or the type of music, but if the beat is a challanging pace for me it works best.

Big country by the band Big Country works well, Spin me right round (from the wedding singer soundtrack) is another good one.

I find a few van halen songs work, but not many.

As far as country goes, I have only found one that kinda works, Gary Allen's right where I need to be, but if I'm in the middle of a run and need motivation, it doesn't help.

Talking My Choices

Hi

First, I highly recommend to everyone to get an IPod. They are compact, they wont "skip", hold loads of songs or audiobooks, clip right to an armband or pants, and you can create your own playlists. I love to run with mine. At 99 cents a pop, you can get your favorites and not have to buy an entire album at overblown store prices.

I agree with whoever said the "angry" music. Nothing like a little heavy metal to get that blood boiling and the calories flying off. However, I also like song choices like, "Chariots of Fire." Some of my favorites are listed below. Open to any and all suggestions from you all. I need to diet, but my IPod needs to fatten up!

Chariots of Fire (Vangelis), Final Countdown (Europe), Alone (Heart), Proud (Heather Small "Biggest Loser Theme"), Crazy (Seal or Alannis Morrisette), Danse Macabre (Saint Sanes), Enjoy the Silence (Depeche Mode), Cheeseburger in Paradise (Jimmy Buffett), By My Side and Pretty Vegas (INXS), Mr Brightside (The Killers), Wish You Were Here (Marty Casey version from Rock Star INXS), Creep (Radiohead), Pump Up the Volume, Things That Make Ya Go HMMM (C & C Music Factory), Empire (Queensryche), Home Sweet Home, Dr Feelgood (Motley Crue), anything Aerosmith, The Rock Soundtrack....the list goes on.

Keep in touch!
~Carrie
