Yay, Francine! Weight loss AND a smaller size...that's awesome, I can see why you were shouting so happily in the store!
I'm also looking towards how to eat sensibly during the holidays. Yesterday was my stepson's 18th birthday, and we had a birthday dinner at our house. My husband made his awesome Swedish meatballs, and I made a chocolate birthday cake. I did okay with calories for the day, because I ate mostly low-fat proteins and vegetables earlier in the day, and I figured out ahead of time how much I could eat for dinner. And I was down a pound this morning, so that was good!
The most challenging part was to not eat the chips, sodas, etc. that my teens were eating before dinner. However, since I'm not eating that kind of stuff very often anymore and I'm mostly eating healthier foods, I find that processed type stuff doesn't taste as good to me anymore. I really am liking simpler, more natural foods these days.
One nice thing about the holidays...some of the foods are actually really good for you. Turkey, lean cuts of ham, sweet potatoes, etc., can all fit well into a healthy eating plan.
