Support

I asked 2 colleagues at work if they were interested in starting a "Fit Club" and they were. We meet weekly. We review our goals, adjust as needed, and provide support. We went to lunch last week. One is taking a Water Aerobics class with me. I have found it really helpful. They help me to not be so hard on myself and keep me in check. We also help each other problem solve. We have set up a reward system and I am competitive so I want to get my 3 smiley faces each week (food, exercise, and water goal). It's been fun.

Another support is my mom. She joined the gym to help support me. We exercise at least 2x week at the gym. She keeps me in check too. I keep saying that don't I? On my last weight loss journey I basically burned myself out. Exercising too much and obsessive about the food. It fell apart and I regained most of the weight.

Weight loss and exercise based websites such as this one are helpful also. One you might want to check out is www.presidentschallenge.com. It allows you to log in your exercise activity and work towards earning points for a bronze, then silver, then gold medal. You can also compare your activity level with people in your age group, geographic area, etc.

What type of support helps you stay the course for your weightloss journey?

Your fit club sounds great!! Good luck!

My place of employment is starting a weight loss challenge on Feb. 3rd. It's teams of 4, and we are going to weigh in every Thursday. The team that has lost the most weight every 60 days wins $100 each and then at the final weigh in during November the winning team will win a free trip to someplace like Las Vegas or Cancun!! How cool is that? I can't wait for it to start and I hope my team does well. Wish us luck!!

Fit Club

Wow, both of those challenges sound great! My school is having a biggest loser challenge for the teachers. Each teacher pays $10 and weighs in on Tuesday, we will weigh in again on March 10th. Even if I don't win the pot of money, I know that this will motivate me to get a real jumpstart on my weightoss. I lost 26 pounds since last June but have been kind of hitting a plateau due to poor motivation. Wish me luck!

Your fit club sounds great.
Our local fitness club is doing a citywide challenge and it has encouraged me join the local Y and take a kickboxing class 2x aweek and a water class.
I have a great support system around me my husband, family and friends, but it is also nice to chat on various topics here.

I have been thinking we should do some type of challenge here. Maybe between now and when Season 3 begins but I have not thought of anything specific. I'll keep thinking about it.

72butterfly....Thanks for the website - I will be looking into that today. I need something to record my progress and have had trouble finding something. I am a stay at home mom so I don't have the opportunity of a weight loss challenge like most of you but I think that I might start one within my family. My oldest sister and I are the only ones at this time working on losing weight. It wouldn't hurt a few more people in my family to do the same.

Does anyone have any ideas on how I can get my family to get into a challenge and stick with it? I have a few cousins who would be thrilled to do this. I have a pedometer and think that if we include steps in a day would be good. Just email me or post it here to let me know of any ideas on how to get one started...THANKS!

I think it is great that you all have such a great support system. At this time my support system is my siblings, my mom, my children, this forum, and my husband...he could help me out more but he is doing what he can. He just likes to snack in front of me - I have been strong enough this past week to pass on the junky snacks...I go for the celery or carrots. I have also started making fat free smoothies with strawberries - delicious! Takes care of the craving of something sweet.

Keep up the good work!

Those are awesome guys! For those of us who do not have anything like that to take part in maybe we could start our own support system here....weekly weigh-ins (honesty counts!LOL), if we need help we can find it here! Of course that monetary reward would be absent but the long term reward is awesome! Healthy....smaller waistlines.....smaller clothes!

The other weight lose program that I wrote up about has support forums as well. They started this thing call NBU (New Body University) they treat it like a campus. People are broken down into dorms, they they have weekly in dorm and dorm to dorm challenges and you earn little pictures to add to your signature. They have icons for drinking all your water, perfect attendnace (meaning you log on to the forums at least once a day) cardio and toning each week. I've done 2 sessions there and it was a lot of fun. IT also helped because you would chat with your roomies everyday and you got to know each of them better.

I am all for that Sandollar! I think most of us would be brutally honest about our weight (especially when the only prize is the weightloss)!

I agree, that's a great idea!! Maybe we could start a weekly thread on Thursdays or Fridays?? After everybody posted their weight results for the past week they can all be totaled together for the grand total of losses and gains that week.

I would be glad to help out if anybody wants to take turns or something, just let me know.
