My Promise

I promise to take my health seriously.
I promise to make this my first priority. I can't take care of anything else, or anyone else, if I'm sick, disabled or dead.
No, I'm not sick at the moment, and don't think I'm dying. But I know that being overweight takes years off your life. It destroys the quality of life.
I do not want to be taking loads of medication when I get old. ( or older) It used to be that people pretty much assumed that you would lose your teeth as you age, and need dentures. Well, that is NOT happening to me. I take excellent care of my teeth -- just ask my dentist. So, why not take as good of care of the rest of me. I don't need to get diabetes, high blood pressure, joint pain, or any of the many problems being overweight can cause. I don't need to let it happen. I know we can't prevent every illness and ailment through diet and exercise. But, if I take the best care of myself that I can and cherish this body that God gave me, then I will be better able to handle whatever the future may bring.
So, I'm making this promise to me. And whoever reads it is a witness. I owe it to myself and my loved ones. Thanks.

WOW Muppet that was deep, really inspirational and it just makes so much sense. I wish i could keep that committed. My problem is that i never learned to love me so i never cared how i looked or dressed. But our health is our wealth. Thats is why i really love this site you guy seem to have it all together i 'm just hanging on for the ride and hope some of your positive vibes rub off.

trevene_ann, we don't have it all together, not by a long shot. But we do have each other and filling our heads with good information and inspiration keeps our heads and our bodies from getting filled with Junk. You sound like a really sweet person who wants to better your life. I hope we can help you want it even more and gain knowledge on how to get the health you seek. I hope you're learning to love yourself; make a conscious effort to. It'll be worth your time and better for getting you to care about your health than anything.

What Jules said is true. We don't have it all together. I posted this to help me-- to help and remind me to stay committed. I haven't had much success lately, but I'm not giving up. I know I can do it. I know we can all do it. Giving up is not an option... for the reasons I stated in my promise. I am going to get it right-- I'm going to do this. You can too. We're all in it together. Just take 1 day at a time. Make today a good day. Don't worry about tomorrow till tomorrow. Every good day you have builds a stronger foundation for the next good day, and pretty soon you'll be able to look back and see that you've had a whole 'good week', then a 'good month'...
It's hard, and I'm struggling. I need all of y'all's help. ( how's that for creative grammar!! ) And I hope I can be of some help too.
