Goals

I know someone had a thread similar to this but can't find it. Here it goes...

Short term goal...(list 3)
1) Reach new goal of 200 lbs by July 1st.
2) Get into size 16 (or smaller) by July 1st.
3) Feel good about myself.

Long term goal...(list 3)
1) Feel good about myself.
2) Smile and know that what I have accomplished was done by ME.
3) Reach goal of 145lbs by July 1, 2007.

I have learned that having friends and family who support you will boost your confidence in knowing that you can do it...I know this is what has happened with me. I have tried many times before to lose weight and went about it all wrong...I tried diet pills, not eating, etc. I am doing this the right way this time and I have seen results - fast and great results. I have also realized that having a realistic goal (several goals) is helpful...having several short term goals helps reach your long term goal. I have set several goals...I have reached a lot of them but have many more to reach as the months go by. I hope that all of you have done the same...I know that some of you have already accomplished a lot and I am proud of ya. It is a struggle to keep up if you don't have the support of those you love. This forum has definitely kept me going, as well as my family.

Thanks for all that you have done for me. I hope in the end I know that I have done the same for you and others.

Have a good day!

Those are great goals Patty! I know you can do it!!

I guess my goal is to be down to 140 lbs by my birthday on June 10th. That would feel so awesome to turn 37 years old and weigh less and be in better shape then I was 10 years ago!!!!

Great to read your goals, Patty-Ann - I'm sure you will have no problem reaching them in no time. You are very determined!

I agree with you - it is so important to have a supportive environment - my DH is fab, cooking healthy meals for me and encouraging me to go to the gym and it really does help

Patty,

Sounds good, but be careful setting goals that are not concrete like Feel good about myself. This is a great thing don't get me wrong but it can be hard to measure. What I'm trying to say is to set concrete goals that can be measured and easily identified. Like the pound goals and the time frame goals you set. Something I do that helps me and may help you is to set multiple short term goals for example, I started out at 240 pounds and here is my goals. Currently at 220 pounds started trying to lose about 2 moonths ago.

218 pounds by April 29
210 pounds by May 19
205 pounds by May 31
190-200 pounds GOAL REACHED by June 16

By setting these smaller goals you can measure your progrss much better. I really hope you find this post helpful.

Scarr - that helps a lot...Thanks! I understand what you mean by setting goals that I can measure. Your weight is very similiar to mine. I started @ 245...now 225. I started Feb 1st....what day did you start? You mentioned 2 months but wasn't sure on your date.

I will have to re-figure my goals & get back on this.

Thanks again!

Talking Goal Numbers

I have refigured my goals...I have a concert and trip to California July 13, 14, and 15th. I will be flying out on the 13th and be back home on the 15th.

My goals:
1) Lose 2.5 lbs per week.
2) Lose 30 lbs by July 13th.
3) Goal weight (July 13th) = 195

My short term goals (broken down)
4/27 = 222.5 lbs
5/18 = 215 lbs
6/15 = 205 lbs
7/13 = 195lbs

After seeing these numbers I will be able to measure my success. Thanks Scarr for the tips! After seeing these numbers I am more determined to get to that goal weight of 195...just to see the number 195 is exciting - I can only imagine how exciting it is going to be to see that on the scale @ that time. Thanks again! I am posting these goals in my bathroom and when I reach that goal I will put a next to it. I really do appreciate the tips...I'm so excited now!

I thought I'd share some goals as well.

1) Lose 2-3 pounds a week
2) Lose 10 pounds by the middle of May
3) Try to be close to 200 pounds by July.

Hi All

Being from Australia we use the Metric system of measuring. To help anyone who isn't sure, 1 Pound= 0.45kg. So If I say I lost 1 kg that = to 2.20 pounds

My ultimate goal is to lose 48 lbs (22kgs) then take it from there!

ciao
