Exclamation Caffeine Confusion

Straight from the horses's mouth (Jillian's website):

Lately there's been a lot of talk about caffeine and exercise. Recent studies have shown that consuming caffeine before working out enhances performance and helps to burn fat. Hey, don't down that pot of coffee just yet! You need to hear the whole story behind caffeine and exercise
First of all, coffee and Diet Coke isn't going to do it. As a fitness aide, caffeine is only effective when taken in pill form in conjunction with aspirin. When you drink coffee, tea, and soda, caffeine gives you short-term energy. That's because caffeine stimulates your adrenal glands. These glands dump adrenaline into your bloodstream like it's going out of style. When the caffeine leaves your system, your adrenal glands will be depleted for awhile. This will leave you feeling weak and tired from low adrenaline levels.

To stay on top of your game, avoid caffeinated beverages whenever possible. It's fine to have your Starbucks in the morning, but try to keep your overall caffeine consumption to a minimum.

cheers

Thanks for the info nkohli. I had wondered why Jillians book said no caffiene while so many diet pills are filled with caffiene.

I am going to add my two cents as well here...Caffeine also makes you spend more time in the bathroom. It is extremely addictive and it makes you crave more food and sugar. No thanks...
The metabolism pills I am on now contain caffeine, so I am cutting out all my other sources of it; diet pepsi, and diet dr. pepper. I dont think one can a day will kill you, but why consume it when it isnt that great for you?

Even after knowing this, I still enjoy my odd can of diet vanilla coke. It may not be the best for you, but it's still better than a can of coke (although let's not get started on the debate for fake sugar giving us all cancer!)

I have knocked out caffeine when I started my weight loss journey in February...I have tried to drink a Pepsi and I can't finish a single can - I can have 2 drinks and I am through with it. I was addicted to Pepsi and Sweet Tea - I never drank water. I can tell ya one thing - my teeth feel better and are MUCH whiter! I agree that having caffeine makes you have cravings for more junk food...I just stay away from it all.
