what do you want from a gym, tired of the meat market

Im interested in creating a gym but I want to know what kind of ideas people have for me.

What do you look for in a gym?
are you intimidated?
would you want a personal trainer? around your age,
would you want a trainer that is included in a membership?
do you get bored at your gym now?

Etc. just let me know what you want please

Any comments will be appreciated and this is a great way to find out what people want in a gym...Tell me all you can

THANKS ALOT FOR THE COMMENTS

I am also a certified personal trainer and if you have any questions please let me know I would love to help.....also if you are interested in how to pick a good trainer maybe I can help

I think the gym I go to is awesome. Premiere Fitness. I do, however, wish that my membership came with some personal trainer sessions. It's very pricy. I do currently have a personal trainer and he's really awesome. It's just a lot of money, but I need him to help me because I have never been able to lose the weight myself.

All of the cardio machines have tv's on them so you have something fun to do while working out. I kinda wish they had more of the arc ellipticals...they only have 3 and that's the only cardio I like to do! So, if someone is on the machine I am **** out of luck.

Hi Gym idea

What a fantastic idea! Actually doing some research into what people want from a gym...

are you looking at a unisex gym or just one for women? I think for me, the people who work there make all the difference. They need to be genuinely concerned about people and their health- but not in a condesending manner. Many people go to a gym and they have been going for years- they basically are the 'get in, do the work, get out' types. Others (like myself) aren't very motivated, and a personal trainer can be expensive! So perhaps an option to deal with that...

The gym that I am a member for, has a good deal of paying a certain amount per fortnight, which limits me to 4 sessions a month (so I can take them all in one week or space them out), but then I go and see the personal trainer there and it doesn't cost me to go to the gym- just to see the PT.

Hope those ideas are helpful.

Good luck!

Hi, read this yeasterday but didn't respond then. I did think about this last night.
I always joke with my hubby that when we win the lottery I want to open up a gym for overweight people, of course everyone would be welcome, but it could be a place where people like me can go and not feel intimidated or feel like people are staring or talking (or you hear people talking about you - which unfortuantely happened to me at a gym and after that I stopped going and just paid for nothing month after month).
Anyway...
The gym in my dreams has a doctor and nutritionist on staff at least part time so people can get advise, etc.
Plenty of top of the line machines that could keep people motivated.
Different programs - not just to get more members to join but that are motivational to members and actually do save members some money.
Not cost a lot of money (but still costs enough to pay the bills, insurance etc and maintain the equipment).
Provide group and individual personal training sessions.
have packages that include that in the membership if people want to take advantage of that.
Build relationships with the members... send them encouraging notes in the mail - not advertising anything - just to tell them they are doing great.
Offer classes included in the membership. Have classes for all levels from fit to "I have never done a jumping jack in my life"
Well that's some of my dream gym for when I win the mega million lottery... gotta get back to work.
Look forward to hearing what you're up to
