Expecting a Gain :(
I am already beginning to prepare myself for a gain. The other day when I posted about the scale I realized that I really do manipulate our scale. I stepped on the scale (and it was at night instead of the morning which always causes a difference) but I made sure to stand exactly in the middle of the scale and not do my little "try to get the numbers to go down more" dance. The scale was almost 6 pounds heavier than last Moday morning when I weighed Just to check my theory, I did to the little scale dance and moved my feet more towards the sides and the scale dropped another 5 pounds
So I decided that I am going to make sure I weigh staning right in the middle and with no scale manipulation starting next monday, so with our anniversary and 2 different dinner parties this weekend and no scale manipulation I wouldn't be suprised at a 5+ pound gain. I will hate to see it, but it will get me on a more honest track.

I remember when I was pregnant, before I would have to go to the Dr. and get weighed, I would always want my appointments in the morning. I would always be sure I used the bathroom. I would hardly drink anything -- trying to keep those numbers from creeping up too fast.
It's all so silly, really. None of the things I did changed my actual weight ( which really wasn't bad, then). It's not like I was weighing in for a wrestling meet, or anything!
Weight can fluctuate easily. I guess that's why it's important to weigh in, the same way, every time. It's the most honest way to see where you're at.
Don't get discouraged if you do have a little gain. It happens to everyone! Enjoy your parties.. and Happy Anniversary!

Like you, I live and die by the scale. I automatically know if it is going to be a good day or a bad day by what it says. I hate letting a piece of machinery mess with my head like that. My mother has fielded many a call where I was crying because I had gained and shouldnt have. Use your clothes as a guide. Eventually the scale will catch up. I have also done the starvation, and no water thing before going to the doctor's office. A while ago I went to an appointment and they said their scale was 6 lbs off. Um arent doctor scales supposed to be accurate?? Dont let it get you down. Your clothes will never lie, expecially if they are right out of the dryer.

Doing the weight scale waltz myself. It is so depressing! I have worked out so hard this week and have eaten all of the right things only to have gained a pound-Arrrgh! This is so frustrating!

I think weight normally fluctuates within a few pounds, so I wouldn't worry too much about it. That weight could be caused by anything. It could be water weight. Or...you actually gain weight when you put on muscle too..it could be that. I wouldn't beat yourself up over it though.

I am thinking it must be muscle, I have worked out sooo hard! I got measured at my gym today and found out I lost 4 1/2 inches since Jan 31st-cool! I did gain a little in my arms and thighs-am hoping that is the muscle from all those punches, kicks and lunges I have been doing.
I also bought a Weight Watcher scale, it is very accurate and since it is so small, it doesn't give me any room to do my weight scale waltz anymore. lol

Nicky, I was just so frustrated this week having gained a pound! Once I decided to "own it" and just move on, I feel so much better. I joined Weight Watchers last night, I worked out so I know in my heart I am doing everything I need to do to lose this weight... and that it WILL come off. Hopefully the only "waltzing" I will be doing in the future will be with some cute honey by my side !

Wish you the best
I really do wish the best for you! We are all going to have times when our weight is up and down - like Elizabeth said - we have to live up to it and go on. We can't continue our weight loss challenge if we allow ourselves to live by the numbers on our scales. I personally don't own a scale - I don't want to live on it - I weigh in at my doctor's office each week. Remember - that muscle weighs more than fat - the weight gain could be caused by many different reasons.
