I have a desk job all day too... and I think it helps to stay in motion. just because you're sitting, doesn't mean you have to sit still...you can move your legs, your feet, your arms, etc. Moving takes energy. It's when I snack several times while I'm sitting that I get in trouble.....

That has really stuck with me, now I always get up and go to the people I need and I never ask anyone to do anything for me ( like hey can you fax this for me?) I always do it myself and I have noticed a diference.

Wouldn't you know it's a part of my job position from last year? I honestly wish I could be out there walking with all of those little kids. They walk around with such excitement and they really enjoy themselves.

I am also a teacher and my school did the Fit for Life program where we challenged each other to work out a certain amount of time each week. Next week our principal has instituted a Biggest Loser contest, we will weigh in Tuesday and weigh out on March 10th. I have my eye on the prize-wish me luck!

The woman that runs my gym was telling me that if you pack your workout clothes with you and go straight to the gym from work, you will find that you will be more consistent about working out each day. I know that she is right, because if I have to come home and change before working out, I suddenly find other things to do. Or, I tell myself I will sit and rest for 15 minutes and then go change, somehow I never seem to make it to the gym on those days-lol!

My job is staying home with my little one. I do not work. I do sit at the computer a lot through the day b/c I attend college ONLINE and I do a lot of research and writing. I have talked with my daughter and her new job is to be sure that I have walked for the day and if I haven't had the chance then we will go for a walk. She is excited on taking that task! She is only 10 years old - but she is so mature and loving. She is a true nurturer!

This is exactly what I do, go to the gym straight from work. I live 15 miles from my work so I just take my exercise clothes with me and go from work.
Seems to be working so far!

What a wonderful idea! Although the school I work at most everyone is at a healthy weight but me! I'd say I more than likely fit the largest BMI in the whole group. I'd be too embarrased to get on a scale in front of anyone! A couple of years ago when I got sick, my husband didn't even know my weight so he could inform the doctors so that I could get the proper amount of med... Personally, I don't even own a scale!

The contest has begun!
Well, fortunately we didn't have to get on the scale in front of anybody other than the school nurse (and thankfully, she didn't care one way or the other.) My starting weight is 195. My short term goals are to drink 8 glasses of water a day, go to the gym five days a week for 60 minutes each day. I hope to lose atleast 5 lbs the first week and then atleast 2 lbs. every week until March 10th. That is when we weigh in again. By March 10th if I stuck to my weekly goals, I should have lost 15lbs, (but I am really hoping for 20!) I am keeping a journal of how I feel, what I eat and how much I exercised. I think I will also use it to log any cool recipes and nutritional info I find out along the way. In my journal, I wrote my goals and what kind or reward I will give myself if I meet each of them. My 6 week reward is going to be to buy a new outfit so that my son and I can take a family portrait. He is 11 and we haven't had our pictures taken together since he was a baby, because I always hated how I looked. Wish me luck, I will keep you posted....

Hyatt, that picture will mean sooo much to him! We haven't had family photos done in 3 years. We'll have to work on getting them done again.
