*Help!!! from my biggest loser family*

Hi family, I am a 35-year-old female trying to change my life forever by seeking health inside and out. This past year I have been sick off and on due to food allergies. Anyway, I have taken alot of foods off my list and I am feeling much better inside but it seems that I am losing very slow. I starting on October 1st eating less carbs and protein, not trying to starve myself. I also have been taking my vitamins and supplements. The last two weeks of October I implemented exercise(3-5 days). I have been taking it slow due to an ankle & foot injury over the summer. I am feeling so much better and I am now ready to go full speed ahead.

One problem I have is that I am not sure exactly how to melt the pounds off, with the restrictions(less carbs, additives, etc). I not sure if I should do juicing and liquids or low/no carbs or no meats or calorie counting or eating small frequent meals.

I would like to know how the contestants from the Biggest Loser shed so many pounds in 1 week? Is this the magic of television editing or are they eating specific meals and working out for several hours a day?

Please somebody help me, so that I can take back my life and achieve total complete health. Thank you all, and I pray that all of you reach your weight loss goals, and achieve total health.

Your Sister in Health,

Prosper35

From what I have gathered, the contestants at the ranch workout 4-6 hours a day which is impossible for most working people who lead a normal daily life. I don't recommend a low/no carb diet though, it's very unhealthy and unsafe for your body. Carbs are energy and your body needs that. Protein however builds muscle, I usually get between 120-160g of protein a day.

I can't really give any recommendations because I don't know which foods you can't eat and I don't know what you are currently eating...but try to cut out all junk foods and pastrie type foods, pops, juices, chips, cookies etc...or at least limit them to once a week. Watch things that are high in sugar like jams, ketchup, syrups etc....or things high in fat...butter, gravies, salad dressings etc...

Try to eat lots of green veggies and eat fruits. Try to eat 6 times a day, smaller meals, every 2-3 hours apart. This keeps your metabolism running all day which in turn burns more fat. Drink LOTS of water throughout the day as well.

Working out 2-3 times a week is good or if you want to really get active you could try 3-5 times a week depending on your schedule, just make sure you are getting at least 1200 cals a day minimum to meet your body's nutritional requirements.

Missy gives good advise! not a whole lot I can add to this other than saying... slow and steady wins the race. I know you really want to see the weight come off fast. I know dropping big numbers every week would be awesome. But remember, you probably didn't gain this weight in just a few months time, so it's not going to come off quick...
We're here for you and will help anyway we can.

Hello prosper, I don't think low/no carb diets are the way to go either. Instead try good carb options, such as fruits, veggies, and whole grain carbs. Also try lean proteins, and try and keep the saturated (bad)fats down to less than 4 grams per serving. Also avoid anything with trans fats, and high frutose corn syrup, those are bad. I have been trying this natural diet thing, if it isn't found in nature I don't eat it. Cheese's are sort of a gray area, I love low fat cottage cheese because it is a great source of a complete protein.
