Measurements

I have a ? about measurements - Why are my numbers not budging? Last week I lost a little over 3" total for the first time - now they are back up where they were. I know that I have lost inches b/c my clothes are fitting better and I can wear clothes that I haven't been able to fit into.

Everytime I have my husband measure me I get upset b/c the numbers are not dropping like my weight is...I have lost 15lbs since Feb 1st but inches are not going anywhere.

Are you by chance retaining water? It would seem to me that if you can clearly fit into clothes you couldn't fit into before, that means you've lost inches. How else could you fit into them?
It's cool you let your husband measure you though. As much as I love my manimal, I cannot say I'd let him do that. Sorry I can't help you more.

How would I be able to tell if I am retaining water? I do not have swollen legs or ankles or hands. I have no idea if I am retaining water. My hubby really likes measuring me - he always tries to cheer me up and tell me that I am doing good even though the numbers on the tape aren't showing a difference. He always makes me smile!

The most common signs are swelled fingers, hands, and ankles. I can always tell when I am retaining water because my rings cut into my fingers.
I really wouldn't worry too much about what the tape says. It's evident you've lost inches because you can clearly see a difference in how your clothes fit. If you don't see any change in the next few weeks, then you may want to ask your doctor about it, or your personal trainer. Or you could even go to a women's clothing store, and have them measure you. Perhaps they could even offer you some pointers about the do's and don'ts of measuring.
I think it's wonderful your husband is so supportive of you, and can make you laugh. I know there are times that without my manimal, I am sure I would have failed.

I know it is frustrating. Sometimes if the tapemeasure is just a fraction off from where you had it last time you can throw your #'s off. I use to measure people all the time at curves and that was hard, we had guildlines to go by to try and get the same spot but...and how tight you go with the tape can vary from time to time. Hang in there and maybe increase your water intake for a few days and let your clothes be the judge. As long as they are saying you are then isn't that all that really matters.

Thanks for your advice and information. I will be stepping up on my water - I haven't had my bottled water for a couple of days and have a difficult time drinking water out of a glass. It's all in my head...lol. I will give it another couple of weeks and if I don't see a difference I will talk with my doc about it. I will definitely let my clothes be the judge of my inches lost. THANKS!

I have mentioned in a couple other posts - I am fitting into another pair of pants that I have not been able to wear for awhile. I am now wearing size 20(comfortably)...was wearing size 22 (tight)....I'm so happy!

Sometimes my measurements don't seem to be going down either but I can tell in my clothes. At Christmas I was wearing a 28 and now I am wearing 26 and some 24. So don't let the numbers get you down.

I definitely agree that clothes are the best indicator. And how you feel! If you feel good, don't worry about what the scales say! you must be doing something right!

keep up the good work !

I definitely feel thinner - I feel terrific! I have decided to continue charting my measurements but not fretting over them. My clothes have definitely told me enough - the mirror, too.

Congrats on the weight loss Amanda.
