I think most of us agree here, that anything too 'gimmicky' probably isn't going to work. At least not for the long term. I know some people are doing nutrisystem. Some belong to Weight Watchers. Some have trainers. Some people are very intense, and strict, and others are just trying to make little changes that will lead to better health.
Bottom line is, you have to find what works best for you, and your lifestyle. Consistency is important, so don't start something that you don't enjoy. As you get more into it, you'll want to try new things, but for starters, I'd pick an activity you're comfortable doing, and build a routine with that. You can always do more, and different things, once you make exercise a habit.
Good luck and keep us posted! I think starting a journal is a great idea. You can say whatever you want -- you'll probably get some positive comments, and advice. Reveal as much or as little as you want. This is a great group of very supportive, caring people. Welcome!
