Brian has a spectacular aura about Brian has a spectacular aura about
Muhas Vs Samuels

Well this one was different then what we are all used to. As I previously wrote I did not think that I would have time to really connect to the contestants in 2 hours. Well I didnt really connect with them and didnt feel nervous or anxious during the final weigh in.

Team Muha

Otto the father started out at 259 pounds. His main goal of being on the show seemed to be to lose weight and become healthy again. Shaun the mother started out at 232 pounds and her weight problem was caused by depression of the son being in the Air Force. Finally Erica started off at 233 pounds and her goal was to lose weight so she can be within weight requirements to join the Air Force and protect the country she loves.

Team Samuels (Showtime!)
Don the father started out at 243 pounds and his main goal was to lose weight to become healthy again and put some years on his life. Melony the mother started at 197. She is a cancer survivor and was ready to tackle her next big challenge in life, to get healthy again so she would have a greater chance not to get the cancer back. Finally Ravee the daughter started at 177 pounds and would love to loss weight and become an entertainer.

Well the first two weeks the two families were at the ranch. They started off as every show did by climbing the mountain. The symbolism behind this first challenge is making it to the top and the rest of the weight loss will be down hill.

The first challange was a race across the desert carrying a massive ice cream sundae. Also they were followed by ice cream trucks, not sure why . Both teams had to stop a few times since the weight was more than they could handle. At the end the Muhas pulled ahead and won. The prizes they receive were a camera, computer, and a printer.

The second challenge was a written test. Both teams seemed to do very well and they had a handbook to go through to find the answers. The winner by 1 question was the Muha team. For the win they got a $2,500 shopping spree.

Don from the Samuels family was kind of down from losing both challenges and were really pumped up during one of their workouts. When he started to show some emotion/aggresion towards team Muha, Otto responded by challenging him to a footrace thinking he wouldnt lose. Well lose he did. Don won the race by a healthy distance which gave hope back to the Samuels family.

Then the first weigh in! This was two weeks into the show so I was expecting the normal huge numbers because of water weight. The weights were as follows.

Otto Lost 25 lbs. (234 lbs.)
Don Lost 23 lbs. (220 lbs.) Shaun Lost 18 lbs. (214 lbs.) Melony Lost 14 lbs. (183 lbs.) Erica Lost 15 lbs. (218 lbs.) Ravee Lost 18 lbs. (159 lbs.)

Following the weighs in which the Samuels won it was time to return home and put what they learned to work.

When they arrived back to their house they notice some changes. Their houses were outfitted with brand new workout equipment and a new/stocked kitchen. I think this helped them a great deal with getting adapted to starting their weight loss in the “real world”.

Thoughout the time their the families seemed to be working out (not to heavily) until they received some new motivation by a suprise visit from their trainers Bob and Jillian. Honestly I did not see any of them sweat until they showed up. After their workout they were left of their audition tape to give them some motivation on how far they have come and it would be useless to quit now.

The final weigh in! Heres the results.

Otto Lost 89 lbs. (170 lbs.)
Don Lost 55 lbs. (188 lbs.) Shaun Lost 78 lbs. (154 lbs.) Melony Lost 48 lbs. (149 lbs.) Erica Lost l52 lbs. (181 lbs.) Ravee Lost 41 lbs. (136 lbs.)

At the end the Muha family beat out the Samuels family to win the $50,000.

All in all it was a great episode and I look forward to more to come. But personally I do like the longer seasons better because you get to know the contestants more and can connect with them.

I liked it Aaron!

Hi Aaron,

Like you, I felt that the short show would leave a lot to be desired, but I did tape it, and now I'm so glad I did!

I liked that the women were my age, and seeing the results they were able to achieve is very encouraging to me. The fact that the whole story could be viewed at once is a bonus.

I decided to follow the examples set by the families. I took some furniture out of the living room, and brought the old XLGlider up from the basement. I put the tape in and stayed on the glider through both episodes. I burned 830 calories! I would have stopped at 200 normally, but seeing the starting and finishing results kept me going.

I've been at it a week so far, and I wont stop until I get into a 2 pc. swimsuit this summer. It's been 16 years since I felt secure enough to wear nice clothes and feel confident. It's about that time I felt that way again.
I have 40 pounds to loose. I'm going to keep taping these episodes and working out to them. Wish me luck!

Good Luck Mia!

I travel for work and usually set my DVR to record the episodes. I go down stairs on Saturday morning and start watching them, and usually about 30 minutes into the episode I am very ready to go for a run. One of my dogs has figured out that when I start watching the DVR in the morning, she's going for a run... I guess I now have two things to get me motivated to workout, the show and a whining dog...

I hope you stay motivated and keep the fat rolling off!

Special Editions

I enjoy the change of the special editions. Seeing the end result in the one show is exciting. It is still very inspiring. I also really love the full season getting to know the people more, but I think having this little change is cool and keeps the show even more interesting.

Thumbs up Motivation

I didn't have much motivation before I started watching these shows - I am a new viewer to the Biggest Loser! I love the show! This show has given me something nothing else has - HOPE! I thought that I was done for @ 245 lbs - 28 years old. I didn't think that it was possible for me to lose weight...I now know that I can do this and that I can look good again. My goal is to lose 100 pounds and become active in sports again!

Thanks to the show and this forum - I know it is possible! This just gives me the motivation and support I need.

Patty Ann! I feel as if I was only 28 ten minutes ago! If I could go back and have a long talk with the 28 year old me I would beg myself to try harder, stay with it. I would tell my younger self that there would be events in my life that I would have enjoyed if only I didnt hate the way I looked and felt. How there are no pictures of me in my home, and I never let anyone snap photos of me with my son. He seems to only have one parent in every captured memory, the important ones and the every day moments.
There are weddings I stayed home from because I couldnt find a dress, or because by the time I wresteled my lardful legs & butt into panty hose I was too tired to go any farther. Other times I went and thought I looked presentable until I was seated at the table with my beautiful cousins and their husbands and felt like a beast among lillies.

PLEASE stay focused and keep up the good work so that when you are 42 you dont look back on the wasted years like I do! The years between 28-42 are your young adult years and you owe it to yourself to enjoy them as much as possible.

To be 28 again!

I agree, I missed so much at 28 because of not feeling good about myself. I go through feeling like I don't look all that bad until I look at pictures that were taken of me-and I am astounded at just how overweight I still am! I am 34 now, and I have resolved to not miss out on anymore of my life. Just know that we CAN do this, a year down the road we will be the hams posing for the cameras, saying "take my picture!"

Mia - thank you! I have done this already @ 28 years old. Most of our pictures are with me being behind the camera. I do not like having my picture taken and I have missed special occassions b/c of my weight. My children are my motivation in losing the weight - I just can't believe I allowed myself to get this big. I can't do this anymore - it is time for me to take care of myself! THANKS again!
