Navy vs Marine wives

There's quite a few complaints on the official BL board about this series. Many don't like the wives -- calling them whiners. And there are some who think it's stupid to have people on who used to be in great shape.
I don't understand that arguement at all. Look at Matt, from BL 2. They never let us forget he was such a great athelete, who had let himself go. I was never a fan of his, but I think he was pretty popular, and I know he was on the other message board. So what's the difference? It's ok, for a guy to get fat, or because we heard all about his emotional issues, and heard all his excuses, they are more supportive of him? I'm sure these women have had their own personal issues to deal with, but we don't get to know them as well, in the 'special editions'.
I thought the one lady who had had a gastric byp**** and lost weight, but then gained it all back, was great to feature. I don't really have a problem with this operation, but so many are having it done, and it really is a serious operation. It is not an automatic cure either, and I'm glad they showed that. You still have to do the diet and exercise.
I hope some people who were considering this, are now re-considering, and realizing that there are no short-cuts, or easy fixes. I hate to see people risk so much for this surgery, when they might end up not getting the results they want.
I didn't much care for the little marine wife. I don't know-- she was just so super-competitive. I know it's a competition, but for something like this, I think most people would be genuinely happy for anyone losing weight, whether they are on your team or not.
It's probably just editing, but she didnt' seem to be that way.
I don't know who I'm rooting for. I'm just hoping to see some major changes.
Enjoy the show tonight!

Hi Muppet, I totally agree. I think it is a great show and it shouldn't matter if it's someone who has been overweight all their lives or someone who use to be fit and now isn't. Shouldn't matter - overweight is overweight.
I agree also about the gastric bybass. I am really glad they have her on the show. I have a friend who had the surgery and also gained all her weight back and struggles everyday to lose weight again. I have another friend who is seriously considering gastric bypass who sees it at a quick fix. We can't convince her otherwise. Just because you're a candidate for the procedure and your insurance will pay for it - doesn't mean you should do it. My old doctor told me several times that I am a candidate and I should consider it - no way. I figure if I have to learn to eat right and exercise after I have the surgery I might as well learn to eat right and exercise and not have the surgery.
I am looking forward to tonight's show

I don't understand why people feel that way about them. I think the Marines wives did slack off a bit. But they all did great in the end and were a great inspiration. I also agree with featuring someone who did the surgery and then gained it back was great because it shows that the surgery isn't a cure and the real work begins after the surgery.

I got to watch last night, and while I was very happy to see the show again, I must say that of all the groups of people this was my least favorite. I liked Amanda on the red team and the blue team was okay.

I wasn't impressed with the red team sitting and justifying completely abandoning their diets after 2 weeks home and all that. Maybe because it was groups of friends instead of individuals that they all felt they could slack together. One person lost only 12 lbs during the whole thing, I think it was Amber. I've lost 12 lbs in half the time, and I didn't have a week at the ranch and all that time. In 4 weeks I've lost what took her 10, despite her benefits.

It was inspiring, Dari and Amanda were fantastic, and I did really love when they had the navy wives husbands try to keep up with Bob's workout (priceless) but I thought it was not one of the better shows overall. I didn't feel like many people grew and changed. Sorry if you really liked it.

I really liked Amanda from the red team...the smoker. I think she did an amazing job. She was the one who was always crying and telling herself she couldn't do it...and SHE was the only one in her group who had the nutrition down! She also ended up losing almost 70 pounds! I kind of felt sorry for her to be in with the rest of her group though....the rest of her group seemed to slack off and not follow what they were supposed to eat...etc.

In my opinion, I thought she was the one who worked the hardest!

Missy I totally agree. I think she did an amazing job.

I also loved te fact that the husband's couldn't keep up with Bob's workout. I wonder if that was for real or if they were just playing it that way for tv?

Warning....This is going to be a very volitile post.

I was so psyched to leave the gym last night after a 2 hour ass kicking, so I could watch BL. No wonder why they didnt want to broadcast this installment. Are these women kidding??? Several things stood out for me here.

Jillian said something about being able to eat up to 1,900 cals a day without gaining. Um I beg to differ. If I even look at a high cal food, I am wearing it.

What was up with the one woman on the red team saying that she didnt have time to count calories for the rest of her life? Well then she obviously doesnt have time to be THIN and HEALTHY. I about fell off the couch when I heard that comment. I have to admit that I was really worried about Amanda. But I shouldnt have been. She was so worried she would fail, so she worked even harder than the others and she came out on top. At the weigh in she looked a good 15 years younger. I bet she will never smoke again. The blue team deserved to win, and they had all around better personalities than the red team. (Amanda excepted). I was bawling my eyes out when the men came home. And laughing when they couldnt keep up with Bob. I am sure they are in tip top shape, but if they arent used to a specific routine and trainer, then even they can struggle. It was great to see the blue "angels" shine. In the end, I was really disappointed with the Red Team. They never seemed to "get it." Yes everyone looked good, but they could have done more. I think they gave up on themselves long before the weigh in. Makes me wonder if they will keep their current weights, lose more, or go back to the way they were? In the updates, Amanda looked even smaller than the weigh in. Makes you hyper aware of how important being accountable and consistant are in the world of weight loss.
Just my 2 cents...

Carrie, I completely agree. Couldn't have said it better. I don't think the men were faking having trouble keeping up -I think they need to get back on their game too. They were representing the military on TV; I don't think they would dare slack unless they couldn't keep up, because unlike the wives they are actually in the military.

I pretty much agree with everyone's comments. I knew, from the first I saw of them at the final weigh in, that the blue team would win.
3 out of 4 on the red team really didn't look like they'd changed much. And it really bugged me too, when they just quit on the diet. I'm not sure if they all did, or just a few. Well, obviously Amanda didn't . And look at her results! She lost more than the other 3 combined, and even with her superb effort, the weren't even close, with the unimpressive losses from her team mates. Amber was the worst. I know she didn't have as much to lose, but she is carrying about plenty of extra. She pretty much looked the same as when she started. And, she hardly lost a thing, after leaving the ranch! I didn't care for her at all. She was all attitude, and no performance.
I just hate seeing results like that! It's such a downer. When everyone who's on the show succeeds, it makes me more confidant that I can do it too. When I see someone squander the opportunity they'vebeen given, it reminds me how tough it really is to make these lifestyle changes.
It's frustrating too. There are so many people who'd love to be on this show.... to be given the opportunity to learn and change. So it really seems like a waste when people really don't seem to give it their all, and take is seriously.
Well, anyway -- is this it for the special editions? No more BL till season 3? And they haven't even started shooting that yet, have they?

One thing I have noticed - the ones who do not work as hard and that do not pay attention to their eating habits are the ones who do not lose the weight. I have to say that when I see them whine, eat crazy, and slack on their workouts it opens my eyes - when they had their final weigh ins it was obvious who worked the hardest. It makes me want to work hard and eat right. I really liked watching Amanda - I hope that she doesn't pick up another cigarette.

I really didn't care for this special edition...it was boring to me - it didn't motivate me much.
