Via Italia!
You just gotta love loud Italians. I should know, I grew up with them. I can't believe that the Sapienza family didn't lose more weight. There is no way that you can spend two weeks with Jillian, a special diet, and wonder gym and not lose at least 12 pounds or more. I really was glad when Emily lost what she did. I really felt for those two teenagers. Kids at school can be so mean. It is such a shame that people have to look a certain way in order to be accepted by their peers. The outer appearance can change, but it is the inside that is the most important. I am enjoying this episode better than the engaged couple episode.

I have to say I'm favoring the blue family, they are supporting each other in such a positive way. The red team or rather the guy from the red team he was getting pretty mean on the treadmill challenge. I just hope the red team can find a way to start supporting each other so they can take it home and be successful.

In the introductions when Kelly said she felt as if she didn't fit in this life. I felt myself hold my breath, because that is such a painful thing to say, then it got even worse when she said she felt she was born to be a joke.
I know that feeling. We all knew it at least once or twice, and hopefully, only for a few fleeting moments. Now, with the help of her family and the BL people, Kelly has a chance to change all that. WE DO TOO!
I know what it is like to live in both of those families!
My mothers side is loving and supportive. There is no yelling, never gossip. They show self restraint and keep emotions in control. They would never be rude to another, so they keep quiet even when they see you not taking care of yourself. They dont say it- but you can feel their eyes see it! So, the elephant is always in the room and never mentioned.
(I was the usually elephant. They are all very naturally pretty people, weight was not much of an issue for any of them, I never fit in. As much as I love them all, I am self conscious to the point of PAIN in their company.)
My fathers side is loud, bossy & overbearing. They dont see anything wrong with you unless you complain about yourself. Then of course, they know exactly how to cure you, and they all disagree about how to do it! Funny thing is, they are all naturally thin too. I have no clue where in the world I came from! However, the hugs are tighter, the love is genuine and acceptance is overwhelming. You truly are cherished and wanted even as you are being yelled at to step it up and stop being a nudge. There would be no communication if there was no yelling! They see beauty in all you create, and can't see what you think are flaws.
Back to the show-
I can't root for one side over another. I can say that I believe without this show Robbie might not see 40. So, whoever wins, the people who love him will get the best prize of all. Good Luck to all of them, and good luck to each of us.
Now, all this typing has burned at least 50 calories, and I am having a few apple wedges, and 4 almonds as a reward! ~ Mia

Restaurant Families Better
I like this special edition version better. They seemed "catty" on the engaged couples version and oh so competitive in the first family one. I realize Robbie is competitive too but it does not seem the same. I liked the fact that the two teenage girls bonded and it seemed Alexa was rooting for and happy for Emily's weight loss. I've seen the commercial several times when Robbie is standing on the scale and you see how much weight he has lost. It is inspiring.

So far I like the blue team, they really seem to love & support each other.
But I'm rooting for all of them! I'm sure at the final results show they're all going to look great!!

Teenage daughters
Didn’t all of you think the two teenage girls getting to hike together was great? I don’t remember any of the other competing teams doing anything like that - maybe I missed it before. Anyway, I thought it was very good that the two girls became friends and supported each other, even if it was just listening and talking about their experiences. Everytime I see the layout of the ranch I am sooooo jealous! I’d give just about anything to have mountains and hiking in my backyard! It’s just beautiful there. Where exactly is it anyway? Somewhere in California, southern CA, right? They probably display it somewhere in the show but I keep missing it. I do hope that Emily really “gets” the whole pre-diabetic thing. She’s really very lucky that she has this chance to stop the vicious cycle now and make the rest of her life healthy. I’m rooting for her. Great show!

Rooting for both
I am rooting for both families, but I have a feeling that the Sapienzas will win, just from what I saw of next week's show. From what I also heard, because of her weightloss, the teenage girl no longer is in danger of adult onset diabetes! Can't wait to see the show!!!

Mia - my family is just the opposite. My mother's side is the loud group and my father's side is extremely quiet - they keep to themselves. I am extremely close with everyone on my mother's side! I guess b/c I can be quite loud...lol.
Both sides of my family are known to be big after having children...most the women in my family are big women - not real big but overweight. I am one of those women now after having three children but I am NO LONGER blaming that for my obesity. I am working on this as my older sister is and we are having a blast talking each other through our hard times.
I love watching the family shows...the support is heartwarming. The loud italian family is so funny....did anyone happen to notice what one of the Italian women said as they made the hike up the mountain. She said "I am breathing like an obscene phone call." My husband and I just cracked up...lol. Having a sense of humor through this will push them through.
I wish all of them the best - as if you lose the weight - you have won!
