Did anyone think the weight difference between yesterday's couples was too great?
I love the Biggest Loser. Bob and Jillian motivate me. It's a great show and I liked the season finale, but I thought the weight discrepancy was too great between the two couples, even if percentage of weight lost is measured. Lael and (I forget the man's name) were very fit at the end. They didn't have any weight left to lose. The other couple looked great (and I too loved the classy way both couples behaved to each other), but still had some work to do. I thought it was the first time winning seemed unfair. I know the show is called the Biggest Loser and the other couple lost more weight and had a higher weight loss percentage, but it was impossible for Lael and her husband to lose that amount. No one could say they still needed to lose weight. There was very little left for them to do, regardless of how much effort they put in. They were more likely to gain weight in muscle. In my opinion, the scales were unevenly tipped between these two couples -- so much so, that it was impossible to have a real competition. What do you guys think?

I don't think it was too great a difference. I think it was fair because I think the team that lost probably gained a lot of muscle without the work they were doing for th triatholon. If they lost 10 pounds of fat but gained 10 pounds of muscle that's not going to show any loss on the scale but they will look much leaner. I think they all were winners

Yes, I agree. The blue team would have had to lose, what, 20 or 30 more pounds to win? Lose it from where? They were both very lean and fit. I think the guy summed it up, when he said they did their best, and are already winners. I guess no one knew how successful the red team would be, but yeah, to me it was obvious that the red team would win, just because they had so much more to lose. The big surprise to me was that the blue team won the prize at the second weigh-in, right before they left the ranch. But I remember thinking that even then, they didn't have that much more to lose.
I can't feel too bad for them though -- they are both amazingly fit, and live in Hawaii, for goodness sake! ( I wonder where their honeymoon was??)

I can honestly say that I thought the two couples were pretty even and both had a fair chance of winning. This is the first episode where I din't have a favorite I wanted them both to win.

Beth I agree. I think it was very fair. You never know going into the show how hard the families(couples) are going to work (or how little they are going to work). I didn;t have a favorite either

I'm afraid that I can't comment on this b/c I didn't get to see it this week. I was bringing my husband home from the hospital at the time of the show. My sister talked to me about it and she really enjoyed watching the show...her first time. I have turned 2 of my sisters into BL fans!

I really liked both couples this time. I too thought that the red team had a slight advantage with having more weight to lose. Lael was so tiny at the weigh in. I didn't see how she could have lost more. Her finance must have def. put on muscle weight because he was so fit. The red women (can't remember her name) looked to be a lot bigger that I am and I must weigh about 40 lbs. more. I must carry mine much differently. It was a great episode though. I am going to miss it greatly. I hope I am not too miffed to watch in the fall. If they didn't pick me to be a contestant, I hope the ones they did pick were really worth it. (ha ha)

I also didn't have a fav. I liked them both and was cheering them both on. Too bad they couldn't split the money LOL. But atleast the blue team won the honeymoon. I do think that the red team had a little more advantage but also proably had more bad habits to overcome too. And both teams came out winners.

I liked this show best of all actually. I liked both couples very much and happily cheered both on, but I related best with Nick and Lael. That's so me and my fiance. He used to play soccer and kept eating like he was, and like Lael I just squirm out of doing exercise and am definately the weaker one.
I really liked that these contestants were skinnier than previous people. That may sound odd I realize. Listen, if I'm overweight and I stand next to someone even in worse shape than me -I may look thinner but I'm still jeapordizing my own health and future. It's been easy to sit on the couch and watch people weighing 300 lbs admitting they are fat. But Lael is about my size and weight -someone my weight was chosen for biggest loser. Hello! Wake-up call to me. I calculated my BMI, I did a little research and realized that I am nearing obesity and I weight more than a few pounds than I should. Just because I know fatter people than me does not mean I'm at a healthy weight. It motivated me to do something about it. So I for one am really glad Lael and nick were on the show.
PS. I honestly did't mind them not winning since they already live in Hawaii.

Do you think they make an effort to find couples with similiar BMI's? I wonder what the results would be like if they started with the very similiar BMI's.
