Thumbs up Brother / Sister / Siblings ???

One day while watching the Biggest Loser, I was trying to think of who I would personally enjoy doing something like that with. Since my husband's been a bean pole most of his life, and he appears to drop weight easily he isn't exactly someone I would want to go through the process of losing weight with. However, I would absolutely love it if my brother and I could get a little sibling rivalry going to see who could become the biggest loser! For years we've always teased each other about a pharase we once heard that "if 50% of the parents are over weight then 60% of the children will be over weight". Well for years we've gone around calling each other "60". lol, I'd love to go through something like this and be able to look him in the eye in the end and say something like "See, I told you that you were the 60!" (not necessarily meaning he'd still be over weight, but just meaning he didn't lose as much as me.) I think that would be a blast~!

Cool

I think a sibling show would be a great idea. I'm in the same situation as you (Except no sibling) But I run into problems with a husband and son that can eat anything and they are still thin. Can make motivation a very hard thing and will power even more difficult

Family

My husband isn't overweight...has a tummy but not much more than that...I think I would want to go thru it w/ my sister and mom. My stepdad and grandmother both passed away last year so that would be my motivation...pushing my mom to join in...they are both in weight watchers...I joined the YMCA....would be so awesome to be on the Biggest Loser tho, wouldn't it??? I'm just not sure I could be away from my husband that long lol....we just got married in April....

One thanksgiving, I was pulling out my chair to sit when my brother yelled "hey mom get the shovel Mia's at the potatoes!" Well, we all had our chuckle, and then I said, "tell ya what, I only have to loose weight once to look fabulous, but youll keep pouring rogaine on that head forever!"
Everyone sucked in their breath and went all silent. My Mom finally said that was too mean M A R I A... You apologize this moment!

What's that about? He could ridicule me but I can give it back?

I was a size 1 when he stopped me from getting in the pool one day in front of all our friends. I said "what do you mean I'm not allowed in the water?"
He said, " well, haven't you been paying attention to the news? There's a drought this summer and if you get in there with those big ol thighs all the water will run out the top and we wont be able to refill the pool. Your unselfish sacrifice will make it so the rest of us can swim."

I'd love to get him back, but he looks great for his age, 44 and weight will never be is problem! Oh did I mention hes in a rock band, owns the family business (dad retired) and shows up on tv and the radio (local). I go to the bank and the tellers ask if it is true that hes my brother. Then the assume I'm the older one! NOT FAIR! (i'm 18months younger) I'm starting a rumor he's had work done!

My mom

I would love to go on the show with my mother. Two years ago she had a double bypass at the age of 52. This was a shock since she had never had a major illness or even surgery up until then! I never thought of my mother as being overweight because she was always smaller than me. Since the surgery she had gotten more active and tried to eat right, but lately it seems that as I am losing she is gaining weight. I would love to go on the show with her so that we could both make some permanent changes, so that we could start looking great and being healthy together!

Mia - I am so sorry to hear about the incident @ Thanksgiving with your family. My mom is overweight but she makes comments about my sister being heavy and having a big butt. My sister is the same size as my mother and I...my sister says that it doesn't hurt her feelings b/c it is true. I know that it is true that I am overweight but if my mom ever said something cruel to me it would hurt my feelings...and she knows that. My mom tries to tell me that I am not as big as her or my sister but I know for a fact that I am - I wear the same size clothes and weigh the same as them.

I would have come back with something like you but deep down I know that it hurt you! I wanted to tell you another thing - it is great that your brother is successful in all that he does but PLEASE DO NOT COMPARE HIM TO YOURSELF!

Weaverdelooh...
I have two older sisters, a little sister, and a little brother. I couldn't do it with one of my older sisters b/c she is very thin - she is diabetic and isn't well...I couldn't do it with my little brother b/c he is built just fine - no weight problem at all...I couldn't do it with my little sister b/c she has no motivation and does not have the desire to lose weight. NOW...my oldest sister is the one I would and could do it with - she is in the process of losing weight now...she attends Slim4Life and has seen results fairly quickly. She has been a great motivator and supporter as I have started to work on my weight loss...she would be a great team mate!

I think that they should definitely have a sibling show!!!

Patty Ann,

I know this is unrelated to the subject, but I like the way you're willing to put your current weight and your goal weight. It looks like a positive thing!

Thanks weaverdelooh! I figure if I put this on my signature it is for all to see - when I begin to lose weight I will add that to it.
