Recap: Episode 10 (Parts 1 & 2)
Part 1:
Allison lines up the remaining 6 contestants only to announce that the 14 eliminated contestants are back to weigh in. The man and the woman who have lost the highest percentage of weight since Day 1 will get to rejoin the game. Dan, Brittney, Maggie, and Kelly make no effort to quiet their frustrations. But once again, this is the Biggest Loser and life ain't fair. If anything it should make the remaining contenders work that much HARDER to stay in the game. The tension was broken when Jackie saw Dan's new tattoo for the first time. To say she was shocked is putting it mildly.
The 7 women are first to weigh in:
Jenni (Green) 267-229 Lost 38 pounds 14.23%
Mallory (Brown) 217-175 Lost 42 pounds 19.35%
Amanda (White) 204-158 Lost 46 pounds 22.55%
Ali (Pink) 234-167 Lost 67 pounds 28.63%
Bette Sue (Pink) Lost 49 pounds 18.77%
Jenn (Purple) 254-206 Lost 48 pounds 18.90%
Jackie (Orange) 246-182 Lost 64 pounds 26.02%
Ali is representing the women.
Lynn (Green) 409-345 Lost 64 pounds 15.65%
Curtis (Brown) 381-281 Lost 100 pounds 26.25%
Neil (White) 317-262 Lost 55 pounds 17.35%
Trent (Gray) 436-331 Lost 105 pounds 24.08%
Paul (Yellow) 303-233 Lost 70 pounds 23.10%
Mark (Black) 285-195 Lost 90 pounds 31.58%
Bernie (Blue) 283-195 Lost 88 pounds 31.10% *Missed by 2 pounds
Mark is representing the men.
Mark has the highest % of weight loss and he gets to choose which trainer will guide him in the coming weeks. Of course, he chooses Bob. By default, Ali gets Jillian. I don't think Ali minds training with Jillian, but most of her friends were under Bob's watch.
Dan, Jay, and Roger have a meeting with Bob. An unsuspecting Bob launches into a speech and Mark sneaks up behind him and puts him in a half nelson. Bob is shocked to see Mark again. Mark can't wait to put his Blue shirt back on again. Bob's Business Men are back.
Maggie, Brittney, and Kelly meet with Jillian. The vibe in the room is depressing and full of tension. Bringing back 2 former contenders is pretty much shortening their time on the ranch. The women have been struggling as of late, and to bring back 2 very strong contenders is almost too much for them to deal with. Kelly feels that the girls are, "Getting picked off." Jillian makes a wonderful speech about things you can and can't control. Her point being that, "Just because you don't win the prize doesn't mean you haven't accomplished anything here." Personally, I think MANY viewers would rather have their prize be getting to their goal weight rather than the $250,000. The IRS can't take your weight loss, but they can tax the heck out of your prize money...Jillian is overjoyed to see Ali and squeals like a girl when she sees how different she looks. Ali chooses to remain in her Pink shirt to honor her mother who was sent home in week 4 of the competition. Separating yourself from the team does not bode well with your fellow teammates. Just ask Paul who wore a Yellow shirt to his elimination. Ali feels she doesn't belong to any team. But deliberately making herself an outsider is not wise. Jillian doesn't look pleased and Ali better watch it. It's painfully obvious that the remaining women on the campus are gunning for her and are motivated by sheer jealousy. The green-eyed monster is a harsh force to be reckoned with.
Roger made the statement that the team was lost in the kitchen without Mark to cook for them. Now that he's back they can start eating solid food again. One of the few less tense moments in this 2 hour episode. Ali was closer to the men than the women and so she chooses to eat with them. Jillian walks over to where Ali is sitting and asks if she is done because, "Oatmeal looks so good on the gym floor when you yak it up." Thanks Jillian...Everyone in America just lost their lunch watching you fake a dry heave in front of Ali. Jillian then decides to take Ali for a test run to see what she is made of. It's been a good many weeks since she has been on the campus and although she has been working really hard, her body may need a refresher course in Jillian's Daily Ass Kickings. Ali feels that all eyes are on her. (They really are). The girls are keeping an Eagle Eye on her to size up their competition. Maggie feels that Ali was forced upon them. Ali truly believes that she and her mother were the first team voted off due to game play and so she is back to finish what she started.
Across the gym, Roger is watching from his treadmill. He feels that Jillian has ignored her team in favor of Ali. Jillian thinks that Ali couldn't have come at a better time because her team is so lost and in need of a pick me up. But the girls want no part of Ali and see her as a threat because of her scale history. If anything, Ali's return threatens to destroy the Black team for good.
Later, Jillian meets with the women, sans Ali. The girls have been crying all week since friend, and former teammate Bernie was sent packing. Maggie says she can't stop eating. Jillian tries to uplift her team by telling them that they don't need to make the finals to know they have been succssful here." She is very worried because they are exibiting the same behaviors that got them to the show in the first place. Food as medication. Nothing a good workout can't fix....
Next is a quick segment of Jillian teaching Kelly and Ali how to cook fish using PAM Spray.
The Challenge:
This challenge is all about energy. As Allison explains, we both use and generate energy when working out. The measurement is called a Kilojoule. Each contestant must ride a stationary bike. In front of each bike are rows of lightbulbs. Each contestant has to bike until their row of ten lightbulbs is lit. For every ten calories they burn, that energy is turned into ten Kilojoules which is enough to light a bulb. One hundred calories/kilojoules will light the row. The last two players from the first heat will be eliminated. They will keep running heats until it is down to the final two with the winner of that heat taking the prize. For the first time, players will be competing head to head with only one winner.
Heat 1 Results: Mark, Dan, Jay, Roger, Maggie, Brittney, Ali and Kelly. (Ali and Kelly are eliminated).
Heat 2 Results: Mark, Dan, Jay, Roger, Brittney, and Maggie. (Brittney and Maggie are eliminated)
Heat 3 Results: Mark, Dan, Roger, Jay (Roger and Jay are eliminated)
Heat 4 Results: Dan and Mark (Mark is eliminated)
Dan's prize is to get two votes in this week's elimination round. Dan is happy with the power to choose but is struggling with how to vote. Either keep your former alliances or start taking out your biggest threats. Loyalty vs Competition.
Bob meets with his team and finds out that Dan is, "The Swing Vote." But all this will be for not if he falls below the yellow line.
Bob does a Ziplock bag promo with Dan and Roger. He aks Dan if he ever planned a meal in his life. Dan not skipping a beat shoots back with, "I planned to go to the drive-thru." Now he follows this strategy..."WWBD?" What Would Bob Do? Bob also adds a trainer tip. One day out of the week, contestants are allowed to have a high calorie cheat meal. 1) To fool the metabolism 2) To encourage the contestants not to cheat during the week because they have the one meal to look forward to.
Nothing major happens during the last chance workout. Ali, "Thought she was going to die." During his Last Chance Workout, Mark looked like he was going to faint. Kelly thinks the men are confident bordering on cocky, and Roger thinks the women are scared of the men.
