Episode 3 Recap

Week 3:

This week opened with Jillian and Bob talking to the remaining teams about why Curtis and Mallory were voted off. It was obvious that they were seen as the bigger threat. As Bob said; "Game on." Team Orange was taken to their prize for being the previous week's biggest loser team. There was a catch...They had to climb up a huge hill to get it. On top of the hill were three envelopes with one word on each. "Family," "Luxury," and "GamePlay." They chose "GamePlay." The prize was that they had two votes at the next elimination round. This prize was huge. Just because they were curious (and so were we) they opened the remaining two envelopes. The family one entitled the team to spend a full 24 hours with a loved one. The luxury one entitled the winners and one other team of their choice to have a week of free massages. I think they made the best choice. Strategy is everything in this game.

Meanwhile back in the gym; the rest of the players begin to sweat. Neill was joking with Jillian that he really did want to be there (still not buying it bud) and Bette-Sue was upset that Bob expected her to keep up with a 20-something yr old. So he sent her on a 2 mile walk with 2 20 pound dumbells. It wasn't all bad...she did finish and realized that in the three weeks she had been there; she'd lost 22 pounds off her body. I don't know why; but I really do like her. While Bette-Sue was gone; Jillian worked with her daughter Ally. Ally is a lot like me in her fears of losing weight and feeling alone and scared. Her parents had divorced when she was young and her other sibling required more attention. Ally grew up feeling very alone. They never really discussed this because Bette-Sue was so defensive about it. Jillian believed that now was as good a time as any to being again with the mother and daughter. So they had a mini-intervention and got everything out in the open. I really do like these two. As they said; "They have an openly disfunctional relationship." I think a huge fence was mended in this episode.

Back in the gym; everyone is kicking butt as usual. Except Neill. Jillian threatens that if Neill grabs onto the treadmill one more time that EVERYONE will do 5 more minutes. Sure enough; he gets caught holding on and everyone is mad. Bette-Sue is panicking because she has never worked so hard in her entire life. Mark was also furious.

The Challenge:

One team member is to cross through some cold and dirty water to pick up a medicine ball. Run back and throw it into another team's bin. The non-running teammate tells the runner where to put the ball. So; teams begin to talk strategy. Soon after time starts; so does the trash talking. Jackie and Jay start yelling at each other. Later; Mark SCREAMS the house down when his brother told another player to knock them out of the competition. Kelly has a tough time getting out of the water; and the yelling continues. The final team left standing is the grey team. Back at the house tempers flare. The grey team won immunity at the next weigh in. Jackie and Dan head to the gym to talk strategy and everyone else goes to the livingroom to have a meeting. Mark feels forced to make a public apology to his brother because of his yelling. It offended many. Both Mark and Jay admit they yell at each other at home. The other trash talk that was brough up was Jackie and Dan. Back in their room; Amanda tells Neill he needs to quit with the wise remarks.

The weigh in:

The numbers were much better this week; but there was still some disappointment. The biggest losers for the week were the yellow team. They won by one one hundredth of a percent. Followed by orange and blue. Rounding out the bottom were purple and white. Both teams are upset. Amanda hopes that the remaining teams will understand that they aren't ready to go home yet. The purple team is upset because they both work really hard and want to be there. But the scale hasn't been too kind yet. Amanda and Neill go downstairs to make a last plea. Amanda did most of the talking and Neill said a few things. Many of the teams were hoping that Neill would step it up; but he didnt. I am sure that extra workout (courtesy of Neill) was still fresh in everyone's mind as well. People were torn because everyone seemed to really like Amanda.

At the elimination table; Allison asked what Amanda had said to the others in order to keep them there. She also asked if Neill said anything. Neill said that he had said a few things but Amanda had done most of the talking and she was good with the tears. I was (as was everyone in the room); shell shocked by that nasty remark. I am sure you can all guess; the vote was unanimous and the second orange vote wasn't needed. Amanda and Neill were sent packing. After their dismissal; Allison prepared the teams for yet another game twist. If each team could vote another team off right now...who would it be? Tune in next week.

Upadate: Amanda looks really great. Neill has lost some but still has a long way to go. Best of luck to Amanda. Who knows what will become of Neill and more importantly; who cares?
