I got back from Norfolk a few hours ago, the casting call was so much fun.
My family headed down from DC on Saturday afternoon and stayed in a hotel for the night, but when we got there, there were already people camping out in tents who said they'd been there since Friday! I decided I'd risk sleeping inside where it was warm and went to stand in line around 5 this morning. I ended up being 40th in line, and they let us go inside around 9 o'clock. By a little after 10 everyone had wristbands, and at 11 they started sending people up in groups of eight for the interviews.
The worst part of the day was probably the waiting before we went in for the group interviews. I hardly ever get nervous, but my stomach was tied into knots! The waiting definitely took a turn for the better when we had some special guests join us in line: Marty and Amy from season 3 came and joined us! I was absolutely ecstatic - Marty was my absolute favorite for the entire run of the show, and he's just as sweet in person as he is on TV. He ended up talking to my group for about 20 minutes, answering our questions about the show and just goofing around. Both he and Amy look REALLY good.
When they finally brought us in for the interviews, they sat eight of us around a table with one of the casting directors, who took our applications and asked us a few basic questions about ourselves. It was sweet and simple, and we were told that they'll be making calls tonight about callbacks. So I'm sitting here by the computer with my phone in hand, waiting. Keep your fingers crossed for me!

Is that you and Marty in your picture? What an Awesome experience!! Let us know if you get a callback. If not, don't let it get you down. It took a lot of guts to just go to the casting call. I was thinking about you all day yesterday. It will be my turn next Sunday! Best Wishes, keep in touch

Audition tapes
Even if you are planning on going to an open casting call....make an audition tape. In fact....try and have it with you!
I had mine completed, but wasn't sure if I should take it with me. I gave it to them when I went for my call back audition...and the casting agent was impressed that I had one completed. It makes them see that you are really ready for it. Think of it as a job interview.....go in with as much info as possible.
You will only have a few minutes to make an impression....help it be a good one!
If you do get a call back....they will tell you that you will need to submit an audition tape along with all of the other papers that they make you fill out.....get a jump on it.
Good Luck to everyone!

What to expect in a call back audition
Since hopefully many of you will be getting a callback from your open casting calls...I thought I would give you an idea of what happened at mine. I had no idea of what to expect....and was a little nervous.
I met with two casting agents in a hotel suite that they had set up for taping. They were really great at making me feel relaxed and comfortable. Here is an outline of what happened (as best as I can remember). They explained everything that they would be doing during the taping, etc. before they started.
They started off filming with me stating my name, city, state, and age.
Then one of them interviewed me, while the other taped. Many of the questions that they asked me came from the questionarre that you had to fill out for the open casting call.
They asked me questions about a lot of different things. They wanted to know about my personal life (family, friends, etc). They wanted to know about some of the challenges that I have had in my life and how I dealt with them. They asked me to tell them what my dream thin outfit would be. I remember telling them that I would love to parasail in Mexico! He asked me why I didn't do it now? I told him that I was over the weight limit to.
The taping took about an hour. Then they took photos of me. Ladies.....be prepared.....they asked me if I would mind pulling up my shirt and exposing my tummy for the pictures. Nothing indecent.....and only if I felt comfortable. I laughed and told them that I would stand there in my bra and panties if they wanted me....it wouldn't be a pretty sight....but I was willing to if they wanted it (hee hee). They took front, side, and back views. I told them I had no problem with it....I was ready for the world to see me in a sportsbra and spandex.

I think that's awesome you let them take the pics. The first step in achieving long-term weight loss is learning to love & be comfortable with who you are RIGHT NOW. Having a positive outlook on yourself will make you feel better in the long run and push you harder to your goals. There's no hiding anymore, you're ready to take the plunge into a whole new lifestyle..it may as well be all or nothing

It is! Meeting him was so exciting. He's a sweetie.
I never ended up getting a callback from the casting directors, but I still had a great time, and I don't regret a second of it. I wish the best of luck to everyone planning on going to an open call in the next couple weeks - I'll be thinking about you all!
And BigBoyOKC, at the Norfolk audition the female-to-male ratio was absolutely overwhelming. I'd say that at least 90% of the people in line were women. I'd be interested to know if it's much different in Houston.

auditions and request for further information
My husband has also had to send in the second tape about a day in the life of, I hope that it is a good sign, and that they are interested in him for bl4, he has been going through this process since casting for bl3, If he doesnt make it this time he really needs to lose weight without the help of the show. Last year we really thought he would be picked, but then all of a sudden no more contact until thais july when he received a phone call out of the blue. The time frame for filming has changed several times, so we dont want to get to excited until we know for sure.
