When does it start?

The auditions for season 3 are now being held and will be over around March time frame. The airing of the show is scheduled to air sometime late this year. But there has been talk of moving it up sooner. I have not seen a good source on this info yet.

last year they auditioned mostly in december with final decisons made by february 14. season 2 contestants were flown out on march 11, 2005. not sure when the actual taping started.
there are rumors that taping may begin the beginning of april. this will make sense if you go by the time line of last year. some people who had a second callback said they were supposed to hear something by the end of february. has anyone heard any more or other specifics?

I heard that they are going to keep the special editions going for the remainder of the spring TV season. They seem to be a good break from the real show, and help with the ratings. As other non-reality shows are starting to heat up, NBC is able to keep viewers attached to the biggest loser because there is a winner every two weeks.

I would expect them to move closer to the Amazing Race model starting in the fall, where they can have two full competitions every TV year, but since they are just now casting season 3, it would be difficult to have a full season by the end of this TV season.

I've gotten all of this info surfing the web, so it's highly speculative and should be treated as gossip until NBC announces it's formal plans for the fall season....

I auditioned the old fashioned way: through express mail. What do I do now? Sit and wait until the end of Feb.? It seems that those who went to live casting received news pretty promptly. Does anyone know about the routine for mail in auditions? I noticed that they are now listing a cast call in CA for Feb. I wonder why they extended the time line. I don't mind being patient, but I need to know when to let it go.

I know there is a workout video/DVD but I like watching the episodes and watching the weight come off.

I really don't think the season is out on dvd yet. I just tried to google it and got no results. I'll keep my eyes open though.

I am applying to be on the Season 3 show - wish me luck! I have filled out the application, taken pictures of myself - which I would never do otherwise, video taped myself talking - another thing I would never do....I am sending it out b/c it needs to be there before the 31st of January.

I hope they see something in me! If not - I have inspiration and motivation now that I didn't have before.

I wonder why they extended the deadline? Surely they could chose from the many who have applied. I was reading about some of the other casting call nightmares on other threads. I am so glad that I didn't waste money trying to get to one. I was certainly hard editing myself on video but worth it. I sincerely hope that the camera adds weight like I've heard. I just don't think that I look that big in person. Isn't it funny how we get misperceptions about ourselves.
