Would YOU Watch...?
A Biggest Loser show that DIDN'T have the mean-spiritedness and dog-eat-dog feel of the current production?
I'd LOOOOVE to see ten people simply shown HOW to lose weight and maintain a healthy lifestyle. Episodes could start with backgroud info about how people GOT so big and what KEPT them big. Then the show could follow them through their weight loss. No drama, no back-stabbing, no silly artificial contest requirements and "suspense-filled' <yawn> fourteen second scale readings!
I'd like to see detail of their diet and work-out schedule. What they did when the came to a plateau, how the managed to avoid diet pitfalls, etc. Then, a follow-up of how they kept up with the progress.
I don't know about you, but I'd be sure to watch THAT show every week> What about you?

Definitely...
I can only stomach so many Lisa's (Season 1), Nick's & Kathryn's (Season 2), and Heather's/Kai's/Pam's (Season 3). Just think how much more valuable info they could put in there instead of the infighting and other useless crap. But unfortunately, it is still a game and that is what is pulling in more viewers other than those just interested in weight loss. I would hate to see this show turn into what many predicted that it would when it first aired....a mean spirited show intended to rip on morbidly obese people.

Oh, I think they could maintain the 'game' part of it and STILL make it less nasty. Challenges could still be met, weigh-ins competitive- just without the Kai/Heather types of alliances that grow to be so ugly. Discovery Health Channel's Body Challenge had some good ideas...but lacked the polish and timing of the Biggest Loser. If nothing else, I'd like to see the work-out and diet detail available on each show...or at the VERY least, on-line. That the entire last half-hour is devoted to fake weigh-ins and voting drives me crazy.
While I'm in a complaining mood, I ALSO hate the fake "What happened?" bit with the trainers. They know darned WELL what happened during the challenges!

I think season 1, 2, and the special edition had much less of this drama and I liked them a ton more. I really hate to say I dont like this season because of it but I havent really connected with any of them like I did in the other seasons.
There are no Matts or Dr. Jeffs this season and it really brings the show down imo.

I'd be more up for that than the current format, but I didn't ever watch seasons 1 and 2, so I've really gotten into this season. The women really bug me, they seem to have ulterior motives, they don't seem to realize that weight loss is the FIRST reason they should be there, not the game and some money.

Yes yes yes -- I would watch.
I have been at the official TBL message board site, and there are so many posts complaining about the last show, and about the general direction the show is taking. This relates as well to my previous post about the players who gain in the name of 'playing the game'.
I think obesity is too big of a problem, and playing these silly games, and not sharing the healthy way to lose weight and to work will not help the problem. Anorexia and bulimia are big problems too. So it's oh so important to emphasize good eating and physical fitness habits -- not just weight loss.

I would defiantely watch a show that was all about support, encouragement and achieving weight loss goals without a prize. I think if they did want to incorporate some sort of prize system, it should be kept secret until the very end and come as a surprise to the winner. At least there wouldn't be the brutal name-calling and back-stabbing competitions going on between players.

Or how about no eliminations? You pick 14 people and they workout for three months at the ranch and then three months at home and then do a finale...All 14 people have the chance to win the money...No elims, weigh ins that are just about your progress and where you stand amoungst your fellow competitors, and challeges for special prizes - phone calls/workout equipment...And then because you have less fighting, you can spend that time showing people at home the important stuff...What to eat, what to do when you want to give up...
I do want to point out that we can't really blame casting - unless someone knows for sure they do - for picking bad people because anyone can act nice and good natured for an hour or whatever...But once you're on the show you would feel free to be yourself - there not sending you home once you've signed the contract...

I'd watch any weight-loss show. I have to admit, I just love watching these kinda shows. I find them comforting almost.

I like Jayden's idea to let everyone work out for the full time, or if not at least make the elimmination whoever lost the least weight -take the power out of the conniving people's hands and into the proof that they are working hard.
I enjoy the show, but not as much as the other seasons. I think there are other shows like being described on fit TV etc but they aren't big-budget and so you'll have to seek them out to know they exist.
