I really liked Dr. Jeff on the show. I found him to be a great inspiration to me. I agree that he might of had an advantage on the nutrician aspect because of his profession, but I don't think that was his main problem.
His problem probably formed out of an emotional battle going on inside him. Otherwise, wouldn't a doctor take his knowledge and put it to use?

Plus as a doctor he can afford to join a gym and buy healthy fresh foods. I liked him I guess, just not his situation as a doctor.
I'm glad he inspired people on TV and his patients. That makes anyone into good contestant because they are changing more than their own lives.

It is one of those things of "do as I say not as I do". Like many doctors smoke and know they shouldn't and tell their patients to quit. ?????

Kind of like telling our kids not to ever say bad words and then we stub our toes and say "oh shi#!!" I always tell me friends that I am awesome at giving advice to others, but am terrible about doing the right thing myself.

even though dr jeff should know better everyone deserves a second chance otherwise there would be no forum as we would have no second chance to lose weight right.

I can only imagine as a doctor that it must have bothered him more than most. Then again, who am I to know things like that?

I know I was the one who caused much of this discussion and have already posted here several times, but even after posting this thread really got me thinking even more about the emotions involved.
Obviously many of us need to face things about our insides as well as our outsides. I definately fall under that category as well. I didn't realize how emotional this journey could be until I was on it myself. I'm in my 3rd week and I can't believe how many emotional days there have been for me. It's not just about diet and exercise (though I still hold to it that those who know what to do are better than those who don't).
I'm inspired by everyone who made an effort on the show and especially those who kept up the effort after going home.

haha I also fall into this category. I am great at giving advice, but am often a hypocrite since I don't follow my own advice

I have learned a lot about myself as I have begun my weight loss journey on Feb 1, 2006. I have learned that I always ate when I was bored or angry - mostly when I was angry @ husband. I don't have very many days when I want something to eat that I know I shouldn't...I've done very well. When I crave something I will eat it - I just watch the amount.

I think Dr Jeff was really brave and strong going on the show - he must have known that people would be thinking 'well he's a doctor so he should know better' but he did it anyway - he put himself out there on national television to inspire his patients - he really is an inspiration. If he can do it, anyone can!

he certainly can and he never had an ego at all like others on the program so he deserves it
