Red face Pizza Sandwiches

Something my husband and I "invented" this weekend.
He was really wanting some pizza so I decided to try to find a good substitute with what we had around the house.

2 slices high fiber multigrain bread - we use SaraLee
1 slice Kraft 2% American Cheese slice
5 pieces lowfat turkey pepperoni (can't remember the brand)
1 couple squirts of pizza sauce (we buy a low cal 0 fat one that comes in a squeeze bottle.

put a little sauce on one side of eat slice of bread
add slice of cheese
add pepperoni
add other piece of bread
Cook like you would a grilled cheese. (don't butter the bread though)
on medium heat so the cheese melts and the bread gets toasty but doesn't burn.

It's not pizza, but has a lot of the flavor of pizza and satified the pizza craving

Talking mmm pizza...

Mmmmm pizza,

That sounds soooo good. I am constantly looking for pizza alternatives. Do you ever toss veggies on there or ground turkey?

No that was just something we invented over the weekend so we haven't experimented with it yet. i am thinking onion, veggie crumbles and mushrooms for the next one

This does sound great. I got one of the south beach pizzas, but it's tiny and at 350 cal my guy and I were thinking we would split it and add a salad. I like your recipie way better though. Great creativity!

I think there is a recipe in the Biggest Loser Book for pizza using a pita as the crust. I think it was under one of contestants tips, not sure though, I got the book from the library so i'll have to check it out again.
