you are what you eat books

Hello everyone.
Hope you are all doing well.
I have been sticking to my calories religiously and am very excited about my next weigh-in on saturday. I will be very disappointed if I havent lost anything.
Anyways...more to the point. Has anyone used any of the recipes in the gillian mckeith books of 'you are what you eat'? I have tried the quinoa and ratatouille which wasnt bad, even my 10 year old daughter enjoyed it, which is saying something. So if any of you have tried any of the others, any suggestions as to which ones are good and worth trying next?
Going off the point, I did the circuit from the biggest loser book 2 days ago and i still cant walk properly. Those walking lunges are a killer.
Wishing you all a fabulous day and a hearty welcome to all the newbies!!!!
Take care
Littleloser

I haven't really tried any of her recipes but I do try to incorporate her diet principles into my diet - I drink a lot of nettle and green tea, eat lots of fresh fruits and veggies and have started introducing 'superfoods' and nuts and seeds into my diet now too. I also like her 'Living Food' bars - I often eat them for lunch

I haven't had any of them, but the books sound interesting. I'll look for them the next time I go to the store.

Jules,

Yes, nettle tea - I drink loads of it! By all accounts, its one of the healthiest teas there are. I buy it from my local healthfood shop but I'm afraid I can't remember the name of the brand right now. I have found that its not easy to get hold of it in normal supermarkets but health food shops should stock it.

Fennel tea is supposed to be really good for you too, have you tried it? They give it to new born babies in Germany as it is good for getting rid of the mucus. it is also good if you are trying to lose weight, i tried it but for me it was a case of holding my nose and getting it straight down the hatch!! I have never tried nettle tea, but i might give it a go!! i drink quite alot of herbal teas as they are good for all sorts of health problems. i find peppermint tea great when i am bloated!!

I've never tried fennel tea - I might give that one a go.

Nettle tea, I think, is much nicer than it first appears once you get used to it!!

I'm also a big fan of peppermint tea - it's great after a big meal My current favourite is Twinings Camomile and Spiced Apple tea - it's really warming when it's cold and rainy outside!

Sorry if I've caused this thread to be hijacked into a tea discussion. I love teas and am always interested to see what other people drink. Peppermint tea is good, all natural and great for an upset stomach or a sore throat. I'm not a huge fan of chammomile straight, but with apple cinnamon it would be really good. I had a nettle green tea in Scotland once and I've never been able to find an affordable nettle tea since. I found one company in Germany who made it, but wanted to charge me way too much shipping. Unfortunately there are no health food stores within 100 miles of me and I've never seen another nettle tea. But I will definately look next time I pass a health food store. I love to hear that other people like it -my friends think I'm nuts when I tell them it's good.

Roobios is a great caffiene-free tea alternative in addition to herbal teas, it's south African tea. I have a ginger pineapple roobios I absolutely love, from Teavanna. Mostly I order tea from Adagio.com, an online store with great prices and lovely high-quality teas. If anyone's interested I can e-mail you a $5 off coupon for your first order from them. Tea can be so good for you for so many things, depending on the herbs. One reason I love tea is because it allows me to have something flavorful instead of cokes. Although caffiene isn't great, tea has so little caffiene and sugar compared to Dr. Pepper or even coffee that it's still a better choice.

Um, yea I could keep talking all day about teas... If anyone wants to talk about teas just PM me so I don't hijack another thread, k?

Oh, one more thing. Once I tried the grocery store's "super dieters tea" -it worked all-right. But only because it made me sick to my stomach for 2 days so I didn't want to eat anything. I'm not sure what ingreedient did it, but it was bad. Just a warning to those who might fall for such things, as I did years ago. Tea itself is often considered an appetite supressant. It doesn't take any particular type, it's just basically filling you up with water instead of food.
