Cola Chicken

I got this recipe from another forum that I visit. If you are doing WW its 4 pts.

4 boneless chicken breasts
1 can of diet cola
1 cup of ketchup

Place chicken breasts in pan. Pour ketchup and cola over the chicken breasts. Simmer for 45 minutes covered. After 45 minutes, turn the heat up high and cook until sauce thickens like bbq sauce.

That actually sounds kinda interesting....
Any particular brand of Diet Cola? I imagine Coke, Pepsi, Diet Rite...would all come out differently.

I could use my no sodium ketchup and Diet Rite and it would be virtually no sodium!!

Grrrrreat idea!

Any cola will do. I made it last night and was a little worried about the taste because it is an interesting combination but it is GOOD!!! I am not the best cook that's why I look for simple recipes like this and even I didn't mess it up.

I am sorry but I hate to ruin the above recipe. Diet pop has aspertame, which if heated is leathal. This is something I know because I'm a chef. Check out this site and there are many more http://http://users.westnet.gr/~aesclep/ic1.htm

72butterfly is right, the above recipe is great, but using regular cola is a lot safer.

Nutrasweet is made with aspartame.

Guess my secret's out - I almost never use articificial sweeteners...I'd rather have coffee black than with fake sugar... they all seem way to sweet to me and the aftertaste? Fugedabouit!

Have you guys used fructose - and is do you think there's a benefit to it over sugar?

Cyn
