Bye Caroline!

'Loser' gig for 'Days' star
Sweeney replacing Rhea as host

Longtime "Days of our Lives" star Alison Sweeney is replacing Caroline Rhea as host of NBC's "The Biggest Loser."
Sweeney will join "Loser" for its fourth season, which begins taping this spring. Peacock rep said Rhea, who's been with "Loser" since its premiere, has left "to pursue other interests."
Ben Silverman, exec producer of "Loser," said Sweeney will help the show expand its audience. Thesp "will bring not only a great fresh face but (also) a huge, loyal fan base," he said.
Indeed, "Days" is TV's top sudser in young demos, which should provide a boost to "Loser" as it starts to age. And with talk that "Days" could be toast in a couple of years, gig gives Sweeney the chance to establish a bigger primetime presence.
Thesp has also been public about her own past weight woes, writing about her battle vs. the bulge in her 2004 autobiography.
Sweeney has played bad girl Sami Brady since 1993. She'll juggle "Loser" duties and her continuing role on "Days."
Thesp has worked the night shift before for NBC, doing guest stints on "Friends," "Las Vegas" and "Fear Factor."

This from variety.com-- printed Feb. 20.
I have to say I'm really surprised! Caroline certainly wasn't the 'perfect' host, but I was really beginning to enjoy her. I'm sad she's leaving, and I really hope it was her decision.
I'm not a soap fan, but I've heard of this lady. I have absolutely no opinion on her, at this point.
Just thought y'all might like to know!

Pardon my french; but that sucks.
Nothing against Alison Sweeney. She is a brilliant actress (also had weight issues though). I loved her for years on "Days." But I cant see "Sami" hosting the show. NBC should have gone with a former "Loser" as the new host.

Oooh, you're right, Carrie, a former BL contestant would have been the perfect host!

Not gonna lie and say I care one way or another about the host but bring in a person from a completely different Genre hoping they will bring fans to a weight loss show is just odd.

The fact they are getting all these bimbo superficial looking people on the show is really starting to irk me.

Sami...as host of TBL?? *faints*
Yup, she's wonderful on Days but wow...I just can't see her as hostess for TBL.
I really liked Caroline as hostess. The fact that she wasn't a 'perfect' body shape helped me believe that even 'not so thin' people could have really nice jobs, and do something good for others in the same boat.
I wish I could do something like that.
Man, my hubby is gonna faint when he hears the news.

As I said before; Alison Sweeney has had her own weight battles. So it's not like they chose somebody who has been stick skinny and a "10" all their life. I would kill to look like a "superficial bimbo." Plus, she has a baby and still looks great.
But NBC should have stuck with the alumni losers. I would have liked Seth back, or Dre (season 1), or Jen or Dr Jeff.

I don't have any opinion about who they should have chosen, and I don't have any problem with the lady they chose, but if they ousted Caroline for some reason, that would upset me. But if she left ( as it says) because she wanted to pursue other things, then good for her, and I wish her the best. However, I realize that sometimes they are forced to 'pursue other interests'. I hope Caroline did indeed leave because she wanted to do something else. I will miss her!

I'm really getting the impression she was fired. Too bad -- I really thought she was getting into her role as host of that show. In spite of mistakes, I thought she was getting better all the time. I really felt like she was there for the contestants, and not to showcase herself. And I found some of her fashion and hair statements really funny. She was probably a 'don't', in style magazines, but I found found her sense of style entertaining. And I admired her for doing what she liked. She was no cookie cutter image. I hope this next host isn't one either.

If she seriously was fired, I have just lost all respect for the show.
