Where are they now???
NBC serves up 'Loser' special
New season debuts Sept. 11 at 8 p.m.
By MICHAEL SCHNEIDER
For his first scheduling announcement at NBC, Ben Silverman didn't have to look far.
The new NBC Entertainment/NBC Universal TV Studio co-chairman announced Monday that unscripted entry "The Biggest Loser" will return on Sept. 4 with a "Where Are They Now" special edition.
Peacock will then premiere the new season of "Loser" on Sept. 11 at 8 p.m. with a two-hour bow. ("Loser" will air another two-hour seg the following week, before settling into its regular hourlong Tuesday slot.)
"This is an innovative way to re-introduce an audience favorite and answer the question everyone asks -- 'Did they keep the weight off?' " Silverman said.
"Biggest Loser" comes from Silverman's Reveille shingle, making for the unusual prospect of him announcing a show for which he is an executive producer.
New season of "Biggest Loser" includes a new host, Alison Sweeney, and the return of former "Biggest Loser" trainer Jillian Michaels -- whose new role on the show has been kept a secret. The "Where Are They Now" special will revisit contestants who have kept the weight off as well as those who put the pounds back on.
Hi guys -- I thought this sounded great! I might be looking forward to this than to the new season. I've always wanted them to do something like this. I'm really hoping that we see a lot of people who have really changed their lives. I don't expect some of them to be as thin as they were at their shows finale, because I think a lot of them went too far, but did what they thought they needed to to win. I can understand that-- if you're that close, you'd want to give it all you had. But probably not the healthiest for them, in the long run.
I would be so happy to see people who are healthier and happier. People who are not ruled by food, or the scale, or their size, but by listening to their bodies and taking care of them.
Ok, I got off track a bit, but I am really excited they are doing this show!
