The evening post

How do you like my title? I thought of it because I can only post in the evening when the girls are in bed and hubby's working till midnight. At 12:00 I turn into a potato and have to go to bed. ( I don't care much for pumpkins ) I need accountability, so I am going to try a post to this journal regularly with my efforts. If you check in and see that I have slacked, fuss at me. Here goes.. . . .

Day One - September 1st -
Had a smoothie for b'fast and nursed it until lunch.
snack was a piece of beef jerky
Lunch was a half of chicken quacamole wrap (I had bought a whole one but only ate half because I was full)
Dinner was two slices of thin crust ham/pineapple pizza, three chicken kickers, and two brownie bites (yes I was bad)

I drank a bottle of vitamin water and lots of plain water. I have a distiller and the water tastes so good. It's hooked up to my ice machine also.

I didn't exercise today but had an after school burst of energy and totally cleaned my girls' room. It was a disaster but it looks great now. Then I morphed into a couch potato.

I plan to work out at the gym tomorrow evening instead of the morning (the kids have a birthday party to attend). Hubby works mornings and evenings now and the gym has child care. He and I had a rather strident discussion about when I should work out. He is never here and doesn't realize that I am discussing my schedule with him out of courtesy and don't really intend to listen to his opinion about my "dragging" the kids out at night.

I am just curious as to how many calories a day you are eating. Your menu for yesterday seems kind of small, but maybe it's just because I am used to eating a lot.

I don't blame you for being a little agitated that your husband won't help you achieve your goals. It does seem he is sabatoging it by telling you not to take the kids out at night etc...he is very insecure?

Hey, I really like the title of your journal. It makes me feel like I'm reading something that will expand my mind. Oops-- sorry -- didn't mean to put any pressure on you! I'm really glad you decided to start a journal. It's really helpful for YOU, and can also be helpful for others. You just never know.
So your husband doesn't want you to take the kids out at night? Does he have a valid reason, or is he just trying to be a pain? I'm going to give him the benefit of the doubt, and assume he has genuine concerns. You'll have to correct me if I'm wrong.
Is there a compromise you could reach? Could you split your workouts and do half at home? You know-- a workout DVD or something....
Even if he is being unreasonable, a little compromise on your part might make him feel like he's won, and therefore maybe he'll be a little more supportive.
But hey, I don't know. That's really a silly game to be playing. But this whole journey will be easier for you, if there's harmony at home, rather than continuous conflict. Do what you have to do --and stick to your guns, and do what's right for YOU!!!
That's why so many gyms have child care. To make it easier for moms, who have a hard enough time giving any time to themselves. This doesn't put any one else out -- it's the most guilt free, convenient way to do it, since the kids are in the same building as you.
Keep us posted.

Glad to see that you are sticking around. I wish more previous members like you would come back so we can get this site jumping again.

I was asking if you were at Fitworks too because my gym also has a Cardio Cinema. I have never been in there and it is usually jammed anyway. As long as I have noise in my ears and subtitles to read on tv; then I am good.

For now, forget about your husband and his control issues. He seems to have many restrictions on you and that isnt fair. I think you need to put yourself first; but also explain that you arent going to be neglecting him or the kids. Once you have more confidence in yourself; you will not accept this kind of junk from him. Marriage should be 50/50, not one person making all the decisions.

Chicken kickers? Once again; I have no idea what they are. But they sound good. And if they sound good; I cant be trusted around them.
That smoothie does sound good. Did you buy it or make it yourself? I know that Dannon and Yoplait have good ones on the market.

Keep us posted

Hi Michele! I wasn't realizing who you were until you made a post about me and you getting back in here at the same time. I have wondered how you were doing...do you have the same email address? I have sent emails but never got a response - was thinking that you were long gone. Glad to see that you are back with us!
