Muppet's melting in August

Ha-- let's hope there's some melting going on, and not just because it's so flippin' hot out!!!
I think we get a bit of a break for the rest of this week. I will be hitting the trail, for sure!
I got up early to get my workout done this morning. It's really tough to drag myself out of bed, but I suppose I'd better get used to it!
I've slept great the last few nights. That makes a world of difference!
I've taken the last few days off, from calorie counting, and I'm quite sure I was well over my limit. I'm getting back to that today.
I had a Subway bourbon chicken for lunch-- YUM!!! I skipped chips-- just ate the sandwich. And I've been sucking on a few CremeSavers, to take care of my sweet tooth.
So, nothing exciting to report. Steady as she goes!!!
Take care all,
Carol

ps-- I changed my avatar while back. I picked this one for you guys! Because you really are!!!

I got back to counting the calories yesterday. I was within my limits, but really need to be making better choices.
I got my walk in this morning -- it was still humid, and I was sweating buckets, but it's not as oppressive. I'm sure there are storms on the horizon.
I went my 4 miles, and really pushed it the last mile. I cut my time by about 5 minutes.
I have done some stretching, and might go play with my dumbells for awhile, before I take a much needed shower.
We might take in a concert tonight -- it's free. The Guess Who ( American Woman) is playing at the race track in Des Moines. Should be an 'old school' good time! If we don't get rained out!!
Our garden is producing like mad. We have cucumbers coming out our ears, and the tomatoes are coming on fast and furious too. Sweet corn as well, but we don't have a ton of that. Eggplant ( no idea what to do with it!!), melons are coming along.
There is just nothing better than a red ripe tomato fresh from the garden is there????

You should definately go see the concert tonight. I have seen Randy Bachman (from the Guess Who) live and the show was incredible. You will love it! I also wanted to say good job on getting out and going for a walk in this heat..takes a brave soul to venture outside! haha

The concert was fun!!! I can't believe how good they still sound. These guys are OLD!!!
I had a rough night last night -- couldn't sleep. So, I'm really tired today, and not really feeling that great. I thought I would snap out of it eventually, but no such luck!
I'm hoping to get a walk in later. The weather is pretty nice. But if I don't start feeling a little more peppy, I might just skip it for today.
I made stuffed peppers for supper. It should be easy to not over-eat, since I hate green peppers!
I'm wondering if this legarthic (sp) feeling is related to the sugar I've been consuming. I've probably overdone it on the hard candy, and am eating more sugar than usual. I'm probably coming down from a sugar high, right now!
All the more reason to stay away from it as much as possible. Then you don't have to deal with these crashes.
I'm hoping for a good night's sleep tonight, and then tomorrow trying out one of my new workout dvds. I bought Jillian's front and back set. It was only $14 for both dvds, which I didn't think was too bad. I almost bought a Leslie Sansone one, with 3 workouts on 1 dvd, but it had a beginners, which I don't need or want, and a 2 and 3 mile, I think. I decided to try something different.
I think Jillian's going to kick my butt!!!!!

I had a great night's sleep, and have done one of Jillian's workouts -- the backside one. I really liked it -- it was tough, and FAST! I'll post a more detailed review in the exercise section.
I'm going to try and add these on a more regular basis. I've only done dvd's when I haven't been able to go for a walk outside, but I think it will benefit me more to do these tougher ones more often. A walk is great, and I love it, but I'm thinking I need to do more -- at least if I want to see results a little faster.
Also, I just think it's so good for you.
As I mentioned before, we went to a concert the other night. 'The Guess Who', a band from the 70's, I think. Anyway -- as you can imagine, the crowd was a lot of people in their 40's ;and 50's. Some even older -- a few young ones too. ( good music is good music, no matter what era it's from).
I was struck by how many people were over weight. And I mean really over weight. It's really unbelievable. I'm so proud of everyone on here, who is taking the steps needed to overcome this epidemic. Some people, you can tell, have just given up. And you can also tell that they are miserable! Physically and mentally, I would bet.
I'm so glad for shows like TBL, that show that it doesn't have to be that way.
We are helping prove that too. So keep up the good work everyone!

I hear you on what you are saying about lots of people being overweight. I never would have looked at it before when I was at my highest because back then I just assumed everyone was looking at me and laughing and I didn't realize that there were still a lot of people bigger than me at the time. Now that I have lost almost 60 pounds though, I notice it even more..and think that maybe I didn't stick out as much as I thought I did.

Anyways, glad you had a good time at the concert!

I did have a good time, and I need to get a new itunes card, so I can download some of those oldies but goodies.
I didn't sleep well again last night, and spent a good deal of the day shopping. Bra shopping of all things! It didn't feel like the stupid store had the air on. It was hot and stuffy everywhere, especially the fitting rooms. Not an ideal situation to be trying on bras!
I'm disgusted with the sizes and styles they carry. I'm not quite big enough to be carried with the plus size bras, and I'm too big for most of the normal, or average figure ones. They do have a few they all full figure. But either everyone else is this size too, and they were sold out, or they just don't carry much in my size range. I think it's the latter. They didn't have any emply racks, and as usual, all the pretty ones were the itty bitty sizes, and the bigger ones looked gross. I hate underwires. I tried on a bra with them today, and I think it fit like it was supposed to, but those wires just don't stay where they're supposed to, when I move around. Especially when I sit down. I feel like they're going to poke me under my chin or something.
Anyway, I didn't find anything at this store, but did find a few at the wal mart. I didn't even try them on. I figured I'd just take them back if they didn't work -- but I think they'll be fine. NO WIRES!!!
I'd like to go for a walk tonight, but I'm feeling very tired. Sleepy tired. Also, shopping is draining to me. I think I'll hold off, and go in the morning. I like morning walks so much better anyway.
I let myself get too hungry today, and probably over ate. Or maybe I should just say I made bad choices today. That's what' I do when I'm too hungry! But, it's just one day. I'll do better tomorrow. Or I guess I should say I'm going to do better, starting right now.
Here's to a better evening, and tomorrow!
CArol

I got my walk in this morning. I only went 3 miles-- it was starting to get stifling, so I cut it short.
I am also in the middle of cleaning my bathroom, and bedroom. The worst is done -- shower and toliet. I don't know if I'll get it completely done, because I have to go to work this afternoon. Odd, on a Sunday, but the gals I work with are accomodating me, because we have a board meeting tonight, and they are trying to save me any extra driving. Nice of them!
August is 'back to work' for me. I'm a little nervous -- don't know why--- and a little excited too. I'll either feel better, after today, or worse. But in any case, it will be good to have school starting up again, and everyone back into a daily routine. Preschool doesn't start till the end of the month, but there's lots to do to prepare. Right now, I'm kind of at the 'don't know where to start' phase. I need a goal -- a direction-- then we can just 'get 'er done' ( can't believe I just said that -- sorry!! )
Till tomorrow kids!
Carol

Aww don't be nervous about going back to work, I am sure you will love it once you are there. Sounds like you had a busy day cleaning, that's pretty much what I spend my weekends doing haha

I'm getting kind of excited about preschool starting soon. I have complete control of the reins this year. I just hope I can get my assistant to be a little more sure of herself. It's kind of odd-- she's more opinionated than I am on most things, but she's nervous and unsure about doing more teaching this year. I'm not sure why. It's not exactly new to her. But I think once she gets used to it, she'll really like doing it.
I did Jillian's 'front' workout today. I think the 'back' one was tougher. But, it was great! No nonsense, tough, and quick.
I would like to get a routine of doing these, or some other dvd, early in the morning on the days that I work all day ( tues, and thurs.) and then getting a nice walk in on the other days. I did that for awhile, a few years ago, but it's really tough to drag out of bed. But I know I'll feel better all day, because of the workout, and also knowing that it's done. I'm not very good about getting anything done, after work either. Too many other things that need to be done!
Hey Missy -- I got some nectarines at the store today -- thought of you and your 'super foods' post! I know nectarines were on it!!! And they smelled wonderful ..mmmmmmm.
