Hey Phil -- the newest Jackson sure has a sweet ride!
I loved my stroller -- I literally rolled the wheels off of it! You will use the heck out of it.

Well what a weekend....
My brother calls me up to tell me they are expecting their 3rd child in Feb next year. I was wondering how long it would take my sister in law to get round my brother and convince him
I ate out on Friday night with some friends and had a salad. I was a bit naughty and had wine and shared a dessert with my wife.
Saturday not good, I did my weigh in and had gained 0.5kgs. I figured I needed to push my workout a bit so did a marathon session in the gym. 30 mins weights, 40 x 4 set of stomach crunches on the stability ball. 1hr cardio and 20 mins swimming. Saturday morning was parent craft class where I learned about breast feeding. Ok so I won't be much help when it comes to that but I learned about sterelising equipment and so on so I guess that can be my job. Plus I'll probably get to give baby a bottle later on too.
I had a really lazy Sunday, not much to tell you about but I was a bit miffed that France didn't beat the Italians.
Bad news about the kitty I'm afraid . I knew this would happen but we went on the vets advice. Basically she's pulled out her stitches and now has a gaping wound once more. We are going to try and trap her again but this time we've arranged to hand her over to the SPCA (society for the prevention of cruelty to animals) so they can keep an eye on her until she heals.
I did a weights workout today. I upped the weight on everything though I did struggle a little bit on some things.

Sounds like you are staying with the program -- as dedicated and disciplined as ever! Great job Phil!!
I think it's really good , that after you've been a bit 'naughty' you step up your workouts a little bit too. You don't let those little indulgences get the best of you-- you take action before they can.
I need to adopt that attitude for myself! As you said once, 1 snicker bar is like what.. 45 minutes on a treadmill or something?? Anyway, the point is, that it's not worth it.
Thanks for the inspiration!

Hi All
Muppet one regular snickers is about 20 mins on a cross trainer at my usual pace of 165 - 170 strides per minute on high resistance (its a precor one and I have it on 10) and a cross country program. I'm afraid my discipline slipped a little yesterday when a collegue of mine came back from a trip with a huge box of chocolates and I ate 2. Not sure what came over me as I can usually leave chocolate.
I did a cardio workout this morning and did my personal best again on the rowing machine and treadmill, I do 20 mins on each. I also added another set of stomach crunches to my routine so instead of 3 x 25 I do 4 x 20 now and I'll build that up even more. With warm up, cool down and stretches it takes me around 1hr 10 mins to do.
Kitty came through her 2nd op to sew up her wound and is with the SPCA now. We're going to donate to them a newish pc we're not using since they're struggling along with an old pentium 1 system and win95. I have a photo of her I'll upload soon.

That is a really great way to make a binge dissappear. Mentally break down how hard (and long) you would have to work out to make the calories go away...Suddenly that Snickers or whatever treat you are eyeballing doesnt seem too tempting anymore. Unless you like spending extra time on the machines. If I had to exercise the amount of time it took to get rid of all the Whopper w/ Cheese damage I did to myself; I'd never sleep ever again. I personally dont want to be a slave to food for the rest of my life; and I doubt anyone else here does either. However, an occasional treat isnt going to ruin every good decision that I have made for the last stretch of time. Change is good and studies show that an occasional treat does boost metabolism for a time. I always thought I would "reward" myself after I got to my goal weight with a pizza party. WRONG! I think I am going to reward myself with a long run and getting my hair and nails done. Eating just isnt as exciting anymore as being physical in my new skin is.
Excellent point guys!!

I was just talking to a friend this morning who is also trying to shed a few. We were discussing things like breakfast pizza, and those Mc Donald's mcGriddles. Oh, I used to love those things! We were saying that we never thought anything of it before. You've gotta eat breakfast right? I never ate out much for breakfast, but that's the kind of stuff I'd eat, given the chance. Now, that we know a little bit more and are more aware of things, we couldn't imagine eating so much fat and calories for one meal. What a bad way to start the day!
I just have such a different way of looking at food. How many calories is that? How long of a walk would I have to take to burn those calories? Is it worth it??? NO!!!
Phil, it still sounds like you're doing just great. How goes the baby watch? Is Junior or Junior-ette due pretty soon?

Hi All
Baby Jackson is due on August 17th, by happy coincidence it is also our 4th wedding anniversary that day.
Ladies (and gents if there are any out there) put aside a bit of cash each month and when you hit your target treat yourself like Carrie suggested. A new wardrobe, a pamper day at a health spa etc etc. Also if you want to have a party surely there are companies out there that offer healthy options. I challenged my local indian restuarant to come up with something healthy and I got chicken Tikka and Tandoori, King prawns etc all grilled, a vegetable biriani (a rice dish) and veggie curry. Fantastic and no grease to be seen.
I think I was lucky in a way because I hate mcdonalds with a vengance. I'd walk past one and get something from a local sandwich shop. I'm not anti american but I hate the american corporisation of the world. Market forces I guess but when you see a starbucks on every corner opposite a mcdonalds it gets kinda depressing. Recently a ben and jerries ice cream parlour opened up next door to an indepenant ice cream place here and it just winds me up, especially since they charge more than double the local place you still see idiots with ben and jerry tubs.
Ok off my soap box now
Did a weights work out today, mostly upper body stuff so my arms hurt. I worked up a sweat last night washing the car too.

If you don't mind, I might just jump up on that soap box. It's just like the Borders, and Barnes & Noble bookstores eating up all those small independent bookstores. So now, we can go to any city, anywhere, and have the exact same experience. Whoopie!!
Wal Mart does plenty of damage too. They are building a new, bigger one in my town. It's a small town, so it's inevitable that we'll shop there. It's really hard to spend more at the smaller places, even though you don't want to support wal mart.
There are many in this town that are against it. The one we have now is very small. And sometimes I wish we had a bigger one, so it would carry more of the things I need. So, I'm just a big fat hypocrite!
I guess the best thing I can say about it is, whenever we go to the 'city', we NEVER go to a Wal mart. Anything BUT wal mart. We do hit the Target, which is just another chain store, but Wal mart is the retailer that really seems to bully their suppliers. ( and put them out of business, eventually)
OK - stepping down now. Next.....??
