Talking PattyAnn's Fresh Start - June 2006

Tuesday; June 6

Hello Everyone! I have been out for awhile due to school. I have been too busy to check in all the time. I hope that all of you are doing well. I am going to start off by saying that I have been very busy focusing most of my time on school and home that I haven't done the best with my weight loss. Although, I am still not gaining any weight. I have been doing my best on eating healthy - we don't have many groceries and that always makes it difficult. I have been working out 3-4 times a week...I am stepping it up this Thursday for sure! I don't work out much - haven't really had the motivation and energy to do it...my problem is that when I don't do it in the morning I struggle to get it done in the afternoon. That is all about to change though! We will be able to go grocery shopping next week sometime - I hope and I am going to get lots of fruits and vegetables. I am also going to be including sweet potatoes into my diet...I am going to try to stay away from the other potatoes. I tried sweet potatoes for the first time on Memorial Weekend and I thought they were pretty good - I'm going to try to get my kids to eat them, too.

On a good note - I am down another size....I am wearing a very comfortable 18. Down from tight 22 - WOOOOOOOHOOOOOOOOOOO!!! I am so excited! I look really good in them, too! I wasn't going to buy the shorts - I was just trying clothes on to see if I had dropped a size and my hubby put them in the basket. I think he was happy to see me walk out of the changing room with a smile - I usually am upset walking out of there...lol. I have gone to the doctor and my blood pressure is really good - in February my blood pressure was high...I am doing good! I am weighing in @ 216 lbs -from 245. I am not going to make my goal weight of 195 by July 13th but I am going to work my hardest and get as close as I can. I have another month to go and if I can make it to 200 then I will be happy.

On a lower note - I have missed my period. I am not pregnant-Thank God...my hubby and I are both surgically unable to have children. The doc and I talked about the weight loss being a factor b/c estrogen lives off fat cells and since I do not have as much then my patuatary gland is confused (I don't know how to spell that). It is not sending the signal to my ovaries - but it's all good. He is doing a complete exam Thursday to be sure everything is okay...I am not excited about that at all. I haven't had an exam done in 3 years - I know I know - that is not good. My doc is extremely happy with my weight loss and says to keep up the good work. He is also happy to see that I am doing it the right way, too.

I am starting over fresh and starting to watch my calorie intake, keep my food journal daily, and workout each day, and continue drinking lots of water. I have done a really good job drinking lots of water - the other day I actually had to force myself to drink gatorade b/c I needed the electrolytes...it was a day we were building the deck. I became very lathargic and very thirsty - hubby picked me up a powerade slushy from Sonic...I was worried about the calories but he knew I needed to drink something besides the water. I am committing myself once again! I haven't really stopped - it just took a back seat to my schooling. I'm not letting that happen EVER again!

So...you will see me more often. Glad to be back!

Hi PattyAnn,

Sounds like you know just the track you need to be on and you're heading in the right direction. I haven't been around for a while, so I didn't realize you were MIA but I'm glad your back.

It was great to hear from you. It sounds like you have definately been busy with things lately. I also wanted to congratulate you on going down a size!! I bet you felt awesome when you tried them on and they fit! I think it's good you haven't put on any weight and that you are maintaining, at least you haven't gained!

Food and Activity - June 6

Breakfast - Special K cereal with 2% milk
Snack - Special K cereal bar
Lunch - Deli Turkey (Jenni-O) with mustard on wheat bread - Orange Soda
Dinner - Spaghetti with bread and butter
Snack - Frozen Yogurt

Activity - 45 minutes...3mile walk with Leslie Sansone & 7 minutes pilates

Welcome back Patty Ann!!

You're always such a motivation to me. Congrats on going down in size on your shorts. Doesn't it feel great?? And that was very sweet of your husband to put them in the basket so you could buy them.

I hope you and your kids are having a great summer. I wish I could stay home with mine sometimes so we could spend more time together, hopefully I'll be able to take a vacation soon.

Talking Wednesday; June 7th

Okay...today has been an okay day. I slept in this morning - my little one woke me up and I had so much trouble waking up. I stumbled all over the floor walking to the bathroom...lol. I told her "Ken step back...Mama can't see." The other two kids were upset b/c they couldn't go to summer school today - we were already too late. I had breakfast - Special K cereal with 2%milk. At 9AM I walked for an hour while my hubby played with the children at the park and played catch with my daughter. It was a good walk - felt good afterwards! I tried to get hubby to walk with me but he wouldn't - and then when he finally decided to Kenna wanted Dada to play...so he lucked out. When we got back into the house I had an appointment to go to - that only took 15 minutes. When I got back home we all headed out to my mom's house to work in her yard. I mowed the lawn and sprayed the weeds - it was an added workout - I sweat so much! I love mowing the lawn! After we finished we ate lunch - Mom didn't have much food in the house so I made everyone cold sandwiches. I ate 2 bologna sandwiches w/cheese & mustard on wheat bread. I know that bologna has a lot of calories and sodium - I guess you could say it was a treat...I love bologna sandwiches. I also had a cup of ice cream. We finally headed home @ 5:00pm - Sam had practice @ 5:30pm...it was nice and relaxing. We got home @ 6:45 and started dinner. Hubby grilled pork steak. I had a pork steak, corn, and pork & beans with sweet tea. We were bored after dinner so we went over to the park to watch a game of softball - it was an amazing game...the girls locally were awesome to watch...very good! We just got back in a little bit ago - the two older ones are sleeping and Ken is a little hyper...that is what cotton candy does to ya...lol. Dan is watching TV so I thought I would jump on here and chat up a little bit.

Tomorrow I go to the doc for the dreaded exams...urgh! I don't want to go. I am also going to be weighing in tomorrow - I hope to get good news. I will be jumpstarting my workouts tomorrow...we'll see how it goes.

I'm outta here for now...have to get Ken to calm down for bed...it is too late.

Good luck at the doc's tomorrow. I hate it too. But the best thing about it, is that it really is over quickly. I had to have a uterine biopsy a few years ago, because I had some unusual spotting. I didn't know my doc was going to do it, till just before she did -- and I'm so glad. It really was no big deal, but if I would have known, I would have fretted, and gotten myself all worked up about it.
I bet you'll find you've lost some more weight too.

My doctor's appointment...

Well...it is finally over. I feel so much better knowing that I have had my Well Women Check Up done...it has been too long since I have been in for that. Everything at this time is fine - waiting to make sure everything is okay with the cultures and all. He is wanting me to have my cholesterol checked as well as a sonogram on my thyroid...along with a test for diabetes. The tests are due to having family history of these problems. I found out that I don't have an ear infection - it is TMJ - it is pain in my joint (jaw). I knew that I have had it for a few years but there is nothing they can do besides have you take Motrin. I have been taking plenty of that the last couple of days...the pain started Sunday. I'm a little better now.

I was upset at first when they weighed me b/c it said that I have gained another pound...that puts me at 218 now. Then I started remembered I'm in an 18...the inches are obviously falling in numbers. I will be having my hubby measure me this evening to find out. Considering that I probably have water retention and being bloated from not having my period for over a month is the cause of the weight gain...it's all good b/c I'm focusing on my drop in my pant size.

I will be back later this evening or tomorrow morning - Sam has a game tonight. Oh...I have a job interview tomorrow - not sure though that I'm even going to try to make it b/c it is a far drive. The pay is good but considering the long drive I'm not sure it is worth it and then daycare. Urgh! Why couldn't it be closer?

Oh well...I'm out of here for now. Going to workout a little. C-ya!

Glad you're enjoying all the softball games and managing to avoid concession stands. Sounds like you're having some great quality time with your family. I'm glad your Dr. visit went well (and is over). I hope the TMJ stops bothering you so much. I think they can give you something so you don't grind your teeth overnight.. My friend has TMJ too but I can't remember what she does for it.

New Goals

Since I have been out of the loop for awhile I am posting my new goals. I have made a poster up and posted it in my bedroom. When I reach each weekly goal I will mark it with a smiley face...and if not then I will put a check mark by it and try harder that coming week. This will keep me motivated.
