Sorry I haven't been around. Work is soooo busy right now and the last thing I want to do when I get home is sit behind a computer.
This last Monday I had a 0.5 loss so that makes 17 total.
I had been slacking on some food choices and hadn't been journalling. Monday I started journalling my food again so that makes me more aware of my food choices. I live off a bike path but found when I walk there it's more casual and sometimes I don't walk as long. I found a walking path about 3 minutes from work (one time around is 1.5 miles) and I started bringing a change of clothes to work and I go straight over there after work to walk around 2x (a friend from work joins me for the 2nd time around)
I need to step up the weight training part of things... I was using free weights doing to exercises in the biggest loser book and sometimes with thje dvd, but I haven't been getting my butt out of bed early enough...
hope everyone is well... gotta get back to work

You're doing such a great job! I know what you mean about walking. I don't push myself hard enough. I live right by a beautil bike trail. I love it. I find if I worry too much about pushing myself, I don't enjoy it as much. I also find my pace is directly related to the music I'm playing. The only thing I don't like about my trail is that is isn't a loop. You have to go so far, then turn around and come back. Wahhh wahh -- poor me! I guess if that's my biggest problem, I've got it pretty good!
Logging in your food is the best way to keep it real. No matter how much you know, or think you know about what you've eaten, the best way to keep track is to do it in black and white. The numbers don't lie!
Keep us posted Nicky!

Welcome back Nicky!

Hey a loss is a loss. Congratulations! Food journals make all the difference that way you cant "forget" that you ate something. I could eat protein all day long if they would let me. There is nothing wrong with walking. I have gotten some of my best results from hoofing it and not running or using machines. As long as your heart is pumping and your heart rate is elevated enough so that you can burn fat (it is all good). Exercise isnt (and shouldnt be) about killing yourself. Burning fat is far better than burning calories. Keep doing what you are doing. 1.5 miles is not a short distance by any means! Could you have done that when you first began? I know I sure as heck couldnt. You are doing great!

No I couldn't. I was just thinking about this the other day while I was walking. When I first started this in May I couldn't walk to the corner (which isn't that far) without my lower back hurting and being totally out of breath.
I'm bummed... I hurt my knee. I wish I could say I hurt it while walking or jumping rope or something like that - but noooo to be totally honest... I hurt it getting off the couch I guess I turned it weird.
I tried to walk with my walking buddy at work this morning (we walk about a 1/2 mile each break) and I got about 1/2 way around and my knee was burning... so I guess I need to rest kit for a couple days guess I'll be doing upper body for a few days.
Since I have had a few weeks or small losses I was hoping for about 4 pounds this week. Still might make.. guess we;ll have to wait and see.
My ultimate goal for the challenge would be to lose 40 pounds by Aug 1. That would be 23 more pounds in a month and a half. Do you think that's obtainable. I would be thrilled though to lose another 18.

I LOVE Fridays! We have summer hours at our office which is great! We work four 9 hour days Monday through Thursday and then work 8-12 on Fridays. Brought my change of clothes to work and went over to the walking path after work. Walked around the path twice It was really hot, but there was a nice breeze and about a quater of the path is in the woods so it is all shade. I took it kindof slow to make sure my knee would handle it ok. It seemed to.
I also dug our some pilates dvds last night and tried part of one of them last night. Someone gave me the dvds and I had never looked at them til last night. It was focusing on butt and thighs. my butt needs help!!! At 293 pounds a lot of me needs help, but I would be thrilled to shink my butt and the little pooch I have in my belly.
This next week I am going to focus on drinking my water and exercising more.
Hope you all have a great weekend!!

4 more pounds - 4 more pounds

Stepped on the scale this morning and lost 4 pounds!! I was so excited. That was my goal for this week.
I was shocked by the loss though... Hubby and I didn't make the best eating choices this weekend. I think, for me, it helped because I was always aware of what I was eating and even though they weren't the best choices food wise (Fried Chicken, Hamburger and Pizza) I still was making choices when I ate. The fried chicken night was just a disaster so I won't talk about that. But for the hamburger I chose to have a whole grain bun and I had green beans instead of Baked Ruffles, and last nights pizza... I felt bad for wasting the money but I threw almost all of mine in the garbage.
I decided that I need to plan out my foods on the weekend like I do during the week. I don't have a plan for the weekends so I fall apart.
I am thrilled with my 4 pounds loss though - - so that is 21 total for the BL Challenge.
Hope everyone is doing well!

4 pounds! WOW! You're doing great. And I agree, that just by being aware, you're going to do better. Even if every choice isn't the best, at least you know it, and will probably make up for it down the road.
Don't feel bad about wasting money. It's a tough thing to get past -- to not waste food. But if you don't want it, it's better off in the garbage, than in your body.

I am very impressed with the 4lbs loss. I takes a lot of self discipline to put a tasty pizza in the bin and not your belly.
