June Journal

Here we go...another month. TOM arrived yesterday and hopefully will be gone by next Wednesday. I am really pushing myself this month because I have been slacking with the excuse it didn't take a short time to put it on so it's okay if I only lose 1 pound per month. Maintenance is okay. Truly it isn't just because I am so short and the amount I weigh is unhealthy. I am lucky enough that my weight has not caused any medical problems besides the fact that I am morbidly obese. I am also lucky that my weight doesn't cause me any mobility issues. I carry my weight well. I will be keeping an eye on my exercise routine and my food choices. Hopefully at the end of the month there will be a difference. My goal is to be at least 149, the lowest I have been in my adult life, by 7/25/07 my 35th birthday. It would be beautiful to be about 110-120 by then but that might be pushing it.

I went to Water Kickboxing today and I realized that I miss it when I don't have it. Which means I might sign up for another session after all. I have time to make my decision. I put the scale away. I will bring it out on 6/19 again. Otherwise I will get on it a million times a day. I am doing pretty good with exercise and food right now. One day at a time.

Water kickboxing sounds great. I remember thinking about taking a water aerobics cl**** when we lived in a bigger town with a nice YMCA. I was too self-conscience though, and it seemed like only old fat ladies took this class. Ridiculous, because I know it's a great workout, but I would have felt silly with all those women who were twice my age, or more!
I also think it's a smart idea to put the scale away. I like to weigh in once a week, but that's probably too often. Once a month is probably better. I've decided I'm not stepping on my scale again, untill I've been consistentaly 'good' for more that a few days. Like a whole week, or something. My scale just hovers -- I'm good for awhile, then I'm bad.. seems like I'm continually taking one step forward, and two steps back!
One day at a time is my motto! That's all you can do. My problem is keeping my self focused, and 'up' every day.
It's great to know you're doing so well. Please keep us posted!
Carol

I love water aerobics of any kind. They give you a great workout, but seem way less stressful and intense on the joints

I have been checking the new Water Aerobics class registration and it is really low. I don't want to wait too long to sign up then they don't have a class because no one signed up. I will most likely sign up in a few weeks. I was a little disappointed this morning. I went to do a 53 minute Taebo dvd and had to stop 30 minutes in. My back was killing me. I had to stop. I think my body was trying to tell me something. I decided to listen to it. It may be that I haven't done Taebo in quite a bit of time and did it 3 times in the past 7 days. I have tons of Taebo DVDs and tapes but I only have a dvd player currently. The only 30 minute Taebo dvd I let my friend borrow. I left her a message that I needed it back because maybe I need to throw a 30 minute dvd in there every now and then. Besides she said she hadn't used it at all and I let her borrow it in April. So the next time I do Taebo I will do a 30 minute one. I like to rotate through them so I will just add that one in my rotation and it should help with my back.

What kind of tae bo do you do?

I have been doing those Billy Blanks Tae Bo Kickboxing videos occasionally. I find they give me a really good workout, but I tend to tire very quickly.

I have tons of Taebo DVDs and VHS tapes. They vary between 30-60 minutes. Right now I can only use the DVD ones. What makes it easier for me to complete a routine is I definitely don't try to keep up with him and some of the moves I am stationary just because of coordination. I am still dripping sweat afterwards. Right now I am really liking Cardio Circuit #1, Taebo Cardio, and Taebo Flex. I do whatever I'm in the mood for that day.
