The Journey Begins.......

Ok, I am taking everyones suggestion and starting a Journal.

I don't know that I will use it for a Daily Food Journal as much as a place to vent, laugh, joke, cry, ask questions and basically just document my journey.

The realization of the amount of weight I have to lose is almost overwhelming. When I start to think about the total amount in one lump some I seriously doubt my ability to succeed.

A talk radio show host I listen to gave up smoking after several years of doing so and of course failing several times to quit. He finally just did it one minute at a time, one hour at a time, one day at a time, one week at a time and eventually he was able to kick the habit.

I think I need to take a similar approach. I think I need to focus on doing something, no matter how small it is every day towards my goal and not worry about the time it takes to get there or if I will get there.

If I can do this, then I think I will find it much easier to lose the weight.

I do have a question for everyone though. A few months back I came across a link for Weight Watchers.. well it was a home made site where several people who were losing or had lost weight had sent in their own web sites to link to. If anyone knows of this link, or is able to find it I would appreciate it.

One thing that helps motivate me is seeing that other people who are like sized have lost weight, then I know I can do it as well, and this site had several men my size on it who had lost.

Thanks again to everyone who welcomed me, I hope to chat with several people over time make some friends and lose some weight, and most importantly just become healthier.

Hey! I just wanted to say that I think it's great you started a journal. I've been here since February and I love the people here. They are so encouraging and supportive. They listen. I think seeing and hearing about other people's successes motivates me to keep going and to take on new challenges. I've always been sort of a competitive person...and the more I see other people get success, the harder I push myself for my success.

I can't help you with the weight watchers site because I've never heard of it...but hopefully someone will be able to help you out!

Good luck on your journey. I look forward to reading more about the challenges you face and the successes you achieve.

Hi Matt. I know it can be daunting to think about the weight you need to loose but instead of seeing the goal weight as the only target try setting yourself a monthly target instead. I try to focus on loosing a kilo (2.2 lbs) a week until I hit my target weight rather than saying I want to be X weight by Y date. If I make my weekly target I get a treat (ok usually beer ).

I wish you the best of luck on your weight loss
