I conducted my last training tonight. YEAH!!! Camp starts next week but I think everything will be aokay. I plan to do nada this weekend. So I lost 1.5 pounds. Weight loss is going really slow this time around. Slow but sure. I can't wait to reach the half way mark of 50 pounds then I will really feel like it's not that bad and I don't have too far to go. After I lose the 100 pounds I will aim for another 30. I so know I can do this. Sometimes I get discouraged but I am a determined person and I know once I put my mind to something I can do it. I just need to focus and know that I will have some bad days or even bad weeks but I need to acknowledge that and move on. People are starting to make comments about my weight loss. My boyfriend, mom, and co-workers. I am so proud of myself.

Slow but sure is the best way to go. I'm sure we all know that a diet that causes huge and sudden weight loss usually results in an overall weight gain afterwards. I think you are doing really well. Its a great idea to set yourself mini goals to reach rather than one big one which seems really far away and almost unreachable.

Thanks for the positive feedback Missy and Phil. I tell you when we tell the staff at work that immediate positive feedback works well with kids I didn't realize until just now that it works really well for me too!!!

The power of the spoken word can be a major motivator. Always think before you speak because you never know how your words will positively effect or negatively effect somebody else. I think you are right when you say that positive reinforcement works on everyone and everything from animals, to children, to human beings. Everyone needs a pat on the back every so often to let them know that they are doing a great job or are heading in the right direction. In a world that relies mostly on the decisions of self and others; it is sometimes tough to know what the "right" path to take is. Sometimes your choice might not be the most popular one; but as long as it is the right one for you, then follow it. You may have people who (though well intentioned) try and derail your diet and lifestyle changes because of their own insecurities. Just hold your head up high and say no thank you. Maybe they are in need of some positive reinforcement themselves.

Smiles and positive comments are contagious and infectious...infect somebody today! Now these are diseases everyone needs to catch!

I am so glad you posted this. Everyone needs to realize how a few little words can really make somebody's day and reinforce positive behavior. If you are feeling like your not getting anywhere with the scale (or anything else that is making you feel lousy), and you just want to quit...dont. Take a few minutes to think back to the last compliment you were given. How did it make you feel? I bet that will get your thoughts back on track and you will be better than ever.

Keep up the great work. Slow and steady does win the race. I remember a quote from Jeff Goldblum in "Jurassic Park"...The gist of it is that if you dont use discipline to aquire something; you wont respect it. If you work hard for something and have to struggle a little, you wont take the fruits of your labor for granted. Slow and steady is better than fast and doomed to repeat the mistakes of the past.

Thanks Carrie. I visit other forums and I like this one the best because everyone seems so genuine. Everyone is so nice and supportive. Other forums are so huge and inpersonal. I know when I was in Illnois and didn't have access to a computer I missed posting. I look forward to seeing how others are progressing or if I can support them if they are struggling. Pouring my thoughts out on the computer is so beneficial to me. Because generally I am a closed individual this sense of anonymity (sp?) helps me to be more open than I am with anyone (except my boyfriend, he's my best friend and I tell him everything).

I am glad that we are your favorite forum. I feel completely comfortable here as well. People on other forums sometimes forget to check their 'tudes at the door. They focus more on tearing each other down; instead of the topic at hand. This should be a supportive environment; not a place to get attacked. I know that if somebody here should go off plan and inhale a pint of Rocky Road; they will receive nothing but support and encouragement. People here can say things in confidence despite it being a public forum. I try and post as if I were just talking to myself. That is why I am so brutally honest. Occasionally my journal talks back. I consider that feedback priceless. I hope we can continue to be a safe haven where people can say anything and leave feeling better than when they checked in. We are all in the same boat; traveling towards the same destination. Yes, we will get there at different times and at different speeds. Who cares? The fact that we made the journey at all is the only thing that matters.

Carrie I couldn't have said it any better.

I am so struggling. I have completely abandoned exercising. I believe the last day I actually exercised was on June 15 give or take a day. I am doing okay with food. I haven't had time to eat my 3 snacks between my 3 meals so my calorie intake is definately lower than usual. That will probably come back and bite me in the a..!!! We shall see. Sometimes I am like "whatever...I don't even care". I know I am so wishy washy with trying to get healthy it is just so frustrating sometimes. I figure pretty soon I will get over myself and get back on track. As long as I have not completely fallen off the wagon I feel hope is in sight. I will get up, brush myself off, and move on from this.

Hi,

Sounds like you have got a little burnout. That's ok. It happens to everyone. Try to get in a little exercise each day, keep a food journal and check in here to let us know how you are doing. We are always here for you through the good, bad, ugly, and the just plain nasty phases of your plan. Anything I can do to help; just shout. You can keep control of this. You already know how. Look what you have already done for yourself.

I wish you the best. Dont forget what you have accomplished thus far. You may be struggling now at the middle of the hill; but if you keep on trucking, eventually you will reach the top. From there the view will be aewsome. Do NOT make me break into song...."Climb Ev'ry Mountain...." Glass panels everywhere are shattering!
