I'M SO SICK OF HIGH GAS PRICES. I have to do alot of driving for work and I am have to really try to be very creative with my traveling routes so I do not back track. Jumped from 2.68 to 2.83 gallon here today.

I guess the gas prices going so high bugs me so much, because it seems so unnecessary. I mean, I know they went up because of hurricanes. I get that, but now it seems like they are coming up with all kinds of excuses as to why it's so high. I mean, I expect to hear, 'well, a penguin farted in antarctica, so the price of crude oil is going up 50 %'. It's about that ridiculous. And the big wigs try and explain, and act like we're all just to simplistic to understand the way it works. Anyway -- I'm just pretty darn sick of putting all my 'fun money' into the gas tank.
It's a stormy day, and I didn't sleep all that well last night, so I'm a bit headachy. I'm pretty sure it's going to be tough for me to answer "What have I done today to make me feel proud?". My stomach muscles are really sore ( that's great!) but I don't think I'll do another ab workout today. I'm hoping it clears enough and isn't like a sauna outside later, and I'll be able to take a walk. But that lightning was coming straight down this morning -- no way I was going out in that.
I had a BBQ chicken pizza for lunch -- flat bread, bbq sauce, grilled chicken, and a little cheese-- really good. But, I also baked the kids' muffins, and helped my self to not just one, but 2. I'm also baking a cake -- it's supposed to be a low fat one -- using applesauce and mandarin oranges. I heard it's really good, but I doubt it's really a low cal treat. I'm sure it's just like any cake, where you really have to watch your portions.
Well, anyway, I wanted to get some baking done this morning while it was cool.
No plans for the weekend . We might go camping or something Monday. We have to pick my sister-in- law up at the airport on Tuesday morning. We usually like to go back to Nebraska ( where i'm from originally) for the 4th, because we can shoot off fireworks there. All we can have here are sparklers ( which I think are extremely dangerous) -- I think a few others, but nothing that we really like. So we miss it when we can't go blow up some of our own. We really are careful, but I know that even the most careful people can have an accident. But, for whatever reason, it just doens't seem like the 4th, until we blow something up!

mmm that pizza you had sounds really yummy.

I'm probably going to see some fireworks tomorrow night (Canada Day-July 1st), they are always so pretty. I like the really loud or weird sounding ones. Hope you have fun!

Well, I did manage to drag myself out for a walk. It was so hot and humid, but the wind was blowing too, so that helps a lot.
My eating has been poor today. Quantity has not been that bad, but the quality just isn't there. I didn't put much in my body today that it really needed. It was all about taste today. I have to think differently, and think of food more as fuel, rather than just something that tastes good. I never want to take all the enjoyment out of eating, but I need to be sure I'm giving my body what it needs to run smoothly.
I think I'll do some more strength and stretching work while I watch tv tonight. I don't know yet what I'm going to watch -- I think it's all reruns.
I'm really hoping I get a good nights' sleep in tonight. I want to wake up fairly early and go on a bike ride before it gets too hot. I didn't walk too far today -- only 3 miles, but I didn't want to feel completely wiped out, which is what this kind of weather does to me.
So, although there are more things I've done today that I'm NOT proud of, I can at least say I am proud of myself that I made an attempt at exercise.
Here's to a better day tomorrow! I really, REALLY need to up my water intake. I've been neglecting that. And, I also want to up the calcium -- I don't know if that '3 a day' plan really works, but I know I feel better when I pick yogurt or cereal and milk for a snack. Today I had low fat wheat thins, and diet pepsi. I think I was craving salt, because of how much I sweated during my walk. I'm not usually one to crave salty snacks, but once in a while, they're pretty good.
Take care all,
Carol
