Amanda's Journal

Well, I have been a member for some time now but have never started a journal. Have really enjoyed reading everyone else's. Here goes nothing.
Day 1 of journal: Life is pretty good right now, I have lost 43 pounds since the first of this year. Going to the gym at least 3-4 times a week. For the last month I have been using an online food journal and this really has helped me see what I am putting into my body and what I am using. This site is such an inspiration for me. When I started this journey I was 335 and now at 292, I still have a long way to go but now that I can do this with the help of my weight loss buddies and God. Believe me I struggle each day with making the right choices with food. I am truly a junk food junkie. Give me chocolate and chips and I'm happy. Chocolate has been the hardest thing for me to do without. I try to drink chocolate milk and keep sugar free fudge pops around.

Thanks for all the inspiration and look forward to getting lots of feedback from you all.

You're are doing so great!! 43 lbs lost is awesome!!

I'm glad you decided to start your journal. I think it's just one of the great benefits of this forum. I know you could always start your own private journal but having other people read it and respond and give support and advice helps so much.

Keep up the good work!!

Well I'm back again for a second time today. Can't sleep and do not feel like doing any housework. Was not able to go to the gym tonight, Wednesday nights are to jam packed. Do you ever wonder why you were the one in your family chosen to be fat. I have 3 siblings and none of them have ever had any problems with their weight. Both parents are healthy weights. I know I'm an emotional eater but when did it start and why didn't someone stop me. I can never remember me being normal weight. Both my spouse and I are overwieght and we are really trying to teach our daughter how to be healthy. We try to encourage her with sports and exercise and making good choices about her eating. Sometimes I wish I could just go back and relive my childhood and make better choices with my health and eating. I am very thankful that so far my weight has not caused and health problems as of yet. I am really trying to become a better person with each pound I shed. I know that I have issues and I am trying to deal with those as I wade through this journey. I do realize that I have some issues that I feel I must never voice and will just have to pray to God that he will let me work those out in silence and through pray with him. Well I beginning to ramble now so I will go.
Thanks for all the support.

I'm glad you started a journal and I'd like to say I think you are doing an incredible job so far. Losing 43 pounds isn't easy, but you did it!! You can keep going and you can get to where you want to be. Just believe in yourself and push harder with each day.

I know how you feel amandads. I do have members in my family who have battled their weight. But my mom was always so surprised at 'the girls' ( me and my sisters) We were all at healthy weights till we had kids. We all had a hard time losing it, and it kept building with each baby. My mom always had to comment that she didnt' understand how you could be overweight, when you had little kids to run after all the time. That attitude bugs me. "Well, I wasn't fat, so I don't know why YOU should be!!" One sister and I are about the same. My other sister was always a tiny little thing. I know she dieted a lot in her younger single days. But she is probably the heaviest of us all now. She'll probably surprise us, and be all skinny by the next time we see her. I do have 1 brother, who is skinny as a rail. So, me, my 2 sisters and my other brother have all battled and are battlling our weight, while this brother eats anything and everything, and stays skinny. He STOLE all the sknny genes, I guess!
I do a lot of praying too. About everything. It usually helps, and I feel burdens lifted, but it hasn't been as much lately. I've felt like I'm suffocating. But I'm getting better. I'm keeping on praying. You can talk about whatever you're comfortable talking about here. No one here is an expert, and I dont' know that we'd be able to help, but I do know we can offer support, and a listening ear.
So glad you started a journal. Keep it up!!! You're doing great.

Well today was a nice day. I took off work and my daughter, my mother and myself took off and went to Memphis to go shopping and goofy off. Just a girls day. Did okay on the food. Had a chicken biscuit and diet coke for breakfast, subway veggie delight 6" sub, light chips and diet coke, and for dinner we make shredded chicken burritos. Did not get very much water in today. Had fun shopping with daughter she wanted to try on formals(she is 12). She is at that age were she is struggling between being a tomboy and a girlie girl. Felt really good to just get away and goof off for the day. This Sunday my husband and I will celebrate our 18th wedding anniversary. We will more than likely go out tommorrow night instead of Sunday. Well got to run now.

Today was a very busy but rewarding day. Started the day out at the soceer fields for my daughters last game. Dropped her off at the year end party with her dad and then I went to volunteer at Smile and See. This is a program that several agencys her in town sponsor every other year. Dentists, hygenist, eye doctors and others volunteer their time and talents to provide free dental and vision for those who have no insurance and can not afford to go the dentist or get glasses. This is so rewarding and really makes you stop and be thankful for what you are blessed with. Then I finished the day off with dinner with my husband. Did not get to the gym but figured I burned a good bit of calories working at Smile and See.

Happy Anniversary Amanda!!!

Sounds like you've had a busy but good weekend! It's great that you got to go shopping with your Mom and Daughter. I have a daughter that is 12 also and right now she is still in the tomboy stage. She just getting into cheerleading and it will be different to see her doing girly stuff. LOL

Well did not do too good yesterday. Another full day. Started out good with sensible breakfast and lunch. After church we went to see my niece in a beauty review. In a small town that has no good places to eat on a Sunday evening so we ended up doing fast food. No able to go to the gym or get a walk in. Will have to make up for it today at the gym. Hope everyone had a great weekend.
