muppet's journal II
I am starting a new journal thread, because I don't like the sad face on my first one. I've tried to change it, but it doesn't seem to work the way I think it should, so I've decided to just start over. I'm not sad, or down anymore, and I don't like seeing that face!
I'm feeling much better today. I had to work ( preschool) and was very conscience of what I was touching, and trying to steer clear of coughs and sneezes! I don't want any more sickness!!! My son is getting over the same thing I had -- we were sick buddies! -- and I think my husband is getting it now. I hope that cold snap we had killed all those viruses and bugs!
I think tomorrow I will be ready for some light exercise. A nice walk-- some streching and strengthening..... I am off tomorrow, so I'll have plenty of time. I'm really going to try and get stricter with my eating. I've been pretty lax, while I've been sick. But I haven't done too bad.
Weigh in tomorrow AM---- hope it doesn't send me into depression!
I'm excited to be feeling better, and can't wait to feel really STRONG!!!

Wednesday weigh in! Results are not too bad, considering a week of inactivity, and not very careful eating.
I have done well today, by my standards anyway. I know a lot of people on this board are much stricter than I am.
I went for a walk. Only 2 miles-- I usually go 4. But I don't want to over- do it, and get sick again. A lot of people I know have done just that. My daughter was home sick today. So, only my oldest son hasn't had the pleasure of this bug, so far. He says he never gets sick-- I hope he's right.
It was a beautiful day here in Iowa. Mid 40's. It felt great to get outside and enjoy the weather, and get some exercise. I still have some stretching and conditioning to do, but that won't be a problem. That's easily done while watching tv. ( AI men tonight!)
We are visiting my mom this weekend. I won't have a lot of control over what I eat, but I will control how much. I am planning to make the best choices, no matter where we are.
Have a great weekend everyone!
Carol

Hey, thanks for reminding me of AI!!!! I can't believe as much as I enjoy the show that I'm missing it. Then again, I was actually working out when it started, which is a miracle for me! Good job on at least getting in some kind of work out!

It is so hard to eat right when visiting your parents. You don't want to make them feel bad by not eating what they cook. I know when I visited my mom last weekend, she had tried so hard to cook healthy for me, but it was not what I would have cooked for myself. I just tried to be very careful about the portions, and when I knew I had used up my weight watcher points for the day, I just told her that I couldn't eat anything else and she respected that. Hope your mom gives you some healthy choices, if not, don't worry about it, enjoy your visit and make sure the next day is a good one.

Impressed
Boy, You walk 4 miles a day? I'm impressed! Do you live in the country, and whats it like- level or hilly? We have Kilometers here in Australia. I would love to be able to walk like that. My new goal! (I might make it 2 miles to start!) Good luck at you Mums! Cheers, Misty

Good luck eating at your mom's! That's always a challenge. My mom is 'always' on a diet but always decides the occasion of my visiting is a special occasion and thus she must spoil me with food.
4 miles is so far! I'm afraid if I walked 2 miles I'd have to call someone to come get me and bring me back or I'd get stuck wherever I was.

I know a few folks who are "always on a diet". It must be a rather easy diet to follow though, because I see them eating anything they want! (purple cows, and mt. dew, and candy bars) Oh, did I mention that I never see a drop in weight / size? HMMMMM, wonder why? But they're always on a diet!

Yup. Unfortunately my mom is > 200 lbs (not sure exactly) and by the time I found biggest loser and got excited about it, it took a break from being on TV for the Olympics. She's currently 'on' Atkins -except when she's travelling or has company or... Yep, she eats anything.
I really want to help her too, but I feel it would just be hipocritical at this point until I get my own act together. Meanwhile I bought her a case of those low-cal low carb crispbreads and am going to ship to her as a suprise present. If she could just get out there and really excercise I know she'd feel a lot better and actually lose weight.

Idol Fan Too
Hi Carol,
Glad to see another fellow walker on here! Do you have a trail you stick to, or do you use main roads?
Ohhhhh....Another American Idol fan?? What do you think of the men this year? I am loving Chris (wow can he sing), Ace (drool), David, Taylor, and Patrick (I am sad he was voted off). Actually I like all the guys, but those are my favorites. Copa Cabanna Boy was awful. Sorry. I like the women too, but Brenna has got to go and she can take her 'tude with her.
Good luck this week with your progress. Woohoo for starting the new "Happier Muppet" journal. In my opinion, sequels are always better!!
