Laurie's Journal

March 20, 2006

Today I got up at 4am and worked out for 45 minutes, 30 minutes on the bike and 15 on the treadmill….started on bike, to treadmill, then back to bike. Then after work I worked out at Curves. Went around the circuit 3 times instead of two this time. It felt really good and I felt great afterward…still do. I came home with lots of energy and vacuumed as soon as I got home. Very unusual for me to be able to get myself to do that. I’ve been putting it off lately and haven’t been able to get myself to do it. I’m so glad I did it now. It felt good to have more energy.

A total of 90 minutes working out today, plus cool down and stretching.

Way to go Laurie! 90 minutes is a good long time to be exercising. You should feel really proud of yourself. 4:30 am? Wow you must really be in touch with your inner athlete!

Thanks, Carrie. I liked that, "in touch with your inner athlete". Hmmmm.....the closest I'm ever gonna get, especially at 47 years old!

Yes, I did feel proud of myself yesterday, and even more important than that, I felt "good" period...that sense of well-being that I hope to be feeling more and more of as I go along. It's wonderful.

This morning I got up at 4:00 am again (my cat woke me up...I think that's how I was able to this time) and used the bike and the treadmill again for 45 minutes. To me it's very important to stretch afterward, so by the time I finish, it's an hour. Felt weird to be done with my workout by 5:00 am. Haha. I do hope I'm not feeling too worn out by the time I get off work tonight after getting up sooooo early for two days in a row.

I found myself looking forward to "coming to see" you guys on here this morning. :-) I like knowing you're here. Isn't it funny that you can get to feeling a kind of closeness with people you don't know, but who are striving for the same things you are? So glad for the internet!

I'll probably check in tonight. I wish you all a great day!!

Laurie

Way to go Laurie! You definitely have lots of energy - what time do you usually wake up in the morning? I know what you mean by feeling energized after a workout - it does feel good. It feels even better knowing that we are doing our bodies good by doing the workouts. I used to workout @ Curves - I was hoping to be able to go this year but couldn't afford it. I have started my weight loss journey on my own...I don't go to any gym, nutritionist, or weight loss center. It isn't that hard to do on my own now that I have all of you supporting me and motivating me to keep going. I love this forum...internet is priceless!

WOW! A 90 min workout is awesome! Good for you..and I can't believe you had the willpower to work out at 4am! That takes drive!

It sounds like you are definately motivated to changing your life. I like the fact that you seem so focused on working out.

You should be proud of yourself!

Well, I haven't posted anything for a few days only because life has been busy (that does tend to happen, doesn't it ;-) ) My son got home for Spring Break a few nights ago and will be home for a week.

I have been keeping up on the daily exercise. We had our first weigh-in for our Biggest Loser challenge at work last Wednesday, and I had lost 4 pounds in a week. I was soooooo charged that day after seeing that! I could already feel and see a little change in my body, but wasn't sure if the scale would show any change at all.

It's Saturday morning....I went to Curves and worked out at 8am this morning. It feels good to have started my day that way. Later in the day today I want to get in a ride on my stationery bike or walk on the treadmill a bit. My body is feeling stronger every day, and I'm finding myself "wanting" to MOVE my body more. I like that. I'll be in touch again later as I'm able....

Laurie
