Sorry you had an unhappy birthday Misfit. I hate birthdays -too much pressure to be the best days of your life. Besides, like you I tend to have a history with bad birthdays. Here's one for example that might make you laugh and feel a little better about your day.

When I was ~12 I wanted to have a sleepover with my friends, but only 1 friend could come. First we were meant to go to a movie, but my mom dropped us off late and we missed the beginning and so had no idea what was going on through the rest of the movie. Then she was too busy with some big thing up at church and sent a friend to pick us up and take us to the church where we had to wait for her to finish. No cake, no special dinner, one present ( a t-shirt my friends mom had puff-painted for me). We finally got home and into my treehouse and had to go straight to sleep because her parents had to come pick her up at 6 am for something the next day. My dog curled up with us and stayed the night too, but at 6am we were awoken by the parents only to find that the dog (a large dalmation) had peed all over our sleepingbags. The end.

I hope your birthday was doggie-pee free and I'm sorry it wasn't up to expectations. I hope you have a better day today and enjoy watching the biggest loser!

All was going well until I left the apartment. I got to the gym but as i was off today i went late and there was an aquarobics class on that I couldn't join in so it meant sitting around, I couldn't wait to use the pool so left.

I made a special trip out to a store only for it to be closed.

I never get anything I really want anymore despite dropping hints, I mean amazon gift vouchers????? it costs me a fortune to get stuff shipped here by amazon.

The weather was bad so I didn't get to the beach like i wanted, instead spent the day watching the simpsons on DVD.

The meal out was nothing special

Next year I will not bother to book the day off work or try to arrange something, or give out hints for presents.

previous years of note include the disastrous trip to sicily. My birthday bash that none of my so called friends turned up to etc etc.

Still there's always Christmas to look forward too, and in August our 1st baby, so it isn't all bad. just for some reason april 12th is always a bad day

no dog pee but a whiff of cat pee from somewhere

Well today I did pretty good on my points a few over but better. Tomorrow I am going to stay on track. I was also pretty active today. Had to clean up dog mess from the winter. That was a icky chore but also a work out. Then as I did somethings around the house like fold laudry I put my wrist weights on and let me tell you I can feel it in my arms. I think I am going to do this everyday. Think how much you move your arms doing house work. It really made a difference.

Hi all. I thought I'd drop by and give you all an update. At the weekend I hit my lowest point when I did my weigh in, another 1/2 kg on (just over 1 pound), ok its not a lot but when its going up and up its still not the best thing in the world. I think that was the kick in the backside I needed. I did 50 in the pool on saturday, 20 mins swimming at the beach on sunday (still freezing cold), 50 in the pool last night. I'm going again tonight. My Gym is also running a kind of biggest loser competition, whoever looses most weight by end of june gets 2 months free membership. The only problem is i saw the notice late last night and entry closed yesterday. The forms to enter with had been removed. I'll let you know if they'll let me take part. If not then I've made enquries of a personal trainer and waiting for a response.

Foodwise I've upped my salad and fruit intake and only eat chicken, turkey or fish. I've cut down on bread and not being a sweets person not having them isn't too much of a problem. I've got skimmed milk now (finally a supply). I was given a smoothie maker as a house warming gift which has seen a great deal of use. Strawberries are in season here and very cheap so a portion of those, loads of ice and wizz it all up. can't beat it really.

I'm not feeling 100% though. I seem to have a great deal of anger and hate inside me and I'm not sure where it comes from. The smallest little thing can throw me into an aggressive frame of mind and thats not something i'm proud of. When it happens I get myself away from everyone, not that I'm violent but being alone for a while helps me to calm down.

Helloooo!

Sorry to hear that you have been emotionally under the weather. I am just returning from a 'bout myself. Have you ever figured out why you are so aggressive? You might want to keep an emotional journal (doesnt have to be here). Maybe that way you can figure out any patterns or triggers for this. Or it could be a Seratonin imbalance. I dont know, I am not a doctor. (But at times I feel I am in the same boat). But how you deal with the anger makes all the difference. I think you already know not to turn to food, or other self destructive behavior. Do you have a punching bag? Racquetball is also great for unleashing anger. Just play alone. You dont want to get anyone killed. LOL! "Angry" workouts are great because they really get your heart pumping. Just keep your heart rate between 65% and 85%. Anymore than that and you will burn muscle and your body will crave more food and sugar. You dont have to kill yourself working out.
As for the gym contest...if they dont let you in, so what? Compete as if you were a part of it. Bet you will work out even harder because you will have a goal to work towards. Zillions of people watch the "Biggest Loser" and diet/workout with the contestants, but they arent on the show. There is no reason why you cant do the same.

Best of luck!
~Carrie
